5x01: Prophet Five
Vaughn is dead.
he was shot a bazillion times.
and he died.
gone.
vaughn or should i said andre michaux? it's really screwy how they just messed up vaughn's entire history and made him into someone else. i wish syd would've reacted the same way she did to danny (her first fiancee) but it still got me anyway during the hospital scene. and the funeral scene a bit.
remember syd/vaughn got smashed by a car in last season's finale? totally not an accident but other people trying to get vaughn to decode some coding.
um, so prophet five. some kind of genetics project way ahead of its time in which vaughn's father researched. cia agents started dying mysteriously ("systematically murdered") so people started changing names, identities, etc. hence, vaughn's name change from andre michaux to michael vaughn. turns out vaughn's been tracking stuff down and following renee rienne, a woman on the cia's most wanted list (#8). some gordon dean guy pops into the APO and starts questioning everyone. they find out he really isn't cia after everything happened. just a ghost, wanting to get that 500 year old manuscript on advanced genetics. and that blonde girl! the new girl... i don't like her. but it should be... interesting.
oh and hey! syd's pregnant. not like we didn't see that one coming. she's gonna have vaughn's baby.
marshall: "we're friends. we do lunch." marshall, i missed you. still funny and neurotic! at least i have that.
so basically, vaughn died. dead. dunzo! = no more pretty michael vartan. remember the glory days of will, vaughn, and sark? yeah. i miss those. speaking of which, what happened to sark? did he just disappear of the face of the earth? thanks for BRIEFLY mentioning nadia (will she be in a coma FOREVER?) and showing sloane a bit.
5x02: ...1...
first off, balthazar getty looks like liev schreiber. a lil' bit. which makes balthazar kind of cute because i like liev schreiber. i like his badassness. that should be an interesting addition to the show. okay, so balthazar plays thomas grace and he's a new agent replacing vaughn.... and weiss. yeah, weiss is leaving for DC to take a new job as head ops for the NSC. "steps away from the president" like he says. now weiss is gone.
so, 4 months later a pregnant syd goes to this bar in london and finds renee rienne. they get a hard drive with the codes, syd initiates a friendly relationship and that begins.
ivan curtis, the guy who shot and killed vaughn a billion times, is located -- syd's first lead. curtis makes a deal with an arms dealer, heinrich roemer, for some nuridium. syd/dixon/weiss capture curtis, question/sort of torture him (except not), and eventually syd kicks him out the window after he drinks some water containing isotopes so they can track him. except that doesn't work because you have to be on ground for the tracker to work properly so! curtis is on a plane and syd/dixon/weiss board he plane via stealth. some shooting/fighting happens and dum dum dummmmm...
the nuridium wasn't being used a bomb but to power a cryogenic chamber.
say what?
turns out there is, in fact, a body inside the chamber, and yes, that person lives again at the end of the episode.
going back to the plane, curtis kills himself by jumping off the plane because he's afraid of the people he works for-- syd was asking him about prophet five and basically, what the hell is going on (ah, yet another mystery). the body is at the DSR being analyzed and still unidentified but gets stolen. syd calls renee and tells her about what's going on and well, well, well. renee says she'll try to find out more... as she crosses the room and passes by the cryogenic chamber... with the person inside, alive.
so! we have frozen bodies, a new kind of rambaldi (except not really) in prophet five, a pregnant syd, some new agents, we lost vaughn and weiss, aaaaannd. well, yeah. that's alias for ya.
i'm not sure what to think.
