More government revisions

I want to repeal the 17th amendment. While I understand the reasons that the people demanded that they have direct say in who their legislators are, I maintain that what they did was wrong, and has lead to the weakening of the federal system and balance of power that the framers of the constitution so carefully created ( Read more... )

I think one of the basic differences in our political philosophies is that I assume a basic conflict is State vs. Business, and Business is winning. To me, it seems that the main effect of your proposed change is to make it cheaper for Business to buy senators.

How would it make it cheaper for Business to buy Senators? It seems to me that they would be the same to purchase, but what they get would be a less effective product.

Currently, they buy Senators, and they've got them for the remainder of their 6 year term. With this, the longest time frame that the senator's corruption could be known before it was dealt with would be 2 years.
