America needs to really have a look in the mirror to figure out why kids and young adults are adapting to a violent nature.  It is NOT video games fault.  It's not violence on TV.  Think about it, seriously.  You out KILLING people in other countries. FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT.  WIN.  FREE THEM.  They fucking need it.  I think America needs it more.  They' ( Read more... )

I dunno. I just don't know about the US. Living here, and I dunno. It isn't video games; as you say, the violence came first. Not to mention, kids have played war games since who knows how long ago; video games are just another adaptation of that. I think part of the reason is that when kids have actual problems, the school systems ignore it half the time. The VT shooter was most likely a messed up kid all through school, and no one did anything about it. Most public schools make a point not to get involved, and most every school counselor I've ever met/had has been entirely incompetent at handling more than buearocratic issues. (I went to one with a serious emotional problem, and he just stared at me and handed me a box of tissues while I cried my eyes out). Mainly, the kids who need help, the kids that would do this kinda thing, are passed over, and the obviously violent ones are merely suspended or sent to detention. It's a very sh*tty, hands off system.

Rant aside, GIFTIE :D

Thank you for expressing an INTELLIGENT response to the nation's problems instead of the usual "damn kids and their video games." I guess video games are just a convenient excuse for people who don't want to take a look at what they themselves have done to make it worse. We're stuck in this stupid war, things are getting a whole lot worse for a whole lot of people, and no one does anything. We turn so much violence against others in the name of "peace" and are somehow shocked when anything happens to us. If that doesn't show hypocrisy, I don't know what does. I hate what's been happening to this country recently... I'm sorry to rant back in response to your rant.

I have a little of Vienna Teng's stuff, but it looks like someone beat me to it. ^^;

Thats because we don't want to accept the responsibility of raising our kids right, we use the TV, PS2/PS3/Wii/N64 etc as nannies...I mean what do we expect?...A lot of people are anti-social don't know how to talk to people beyond talking online or via SMS. This is the world we live in, we accpet and such, which is sad really. That and we glorify war still =\...

How glorious is it to talk to your grandparents and hear them tell you about how they almost died in some cruel and painful way?

This is like how we accept "skinny" as being sexy ¬¬ *watched a show about a UK model trying to get to a US size 0* x___X;...Which was after seeing a news report about the shooting Y__Y...So many brave people....and innocent people lost their life.

I have a lot of Vienna Teng stuff given to me by a friend so i'm not sure if it's the album you want but let me know and i'll set up something for you to download.

and I could rant for ages about parents blaming video games for their kids but i won't.
I'll simply say we live in a world where no one takes responsibility for the things they do anymore. It's always someone else's fault.

Argh, tell me about it. I really hate when people jump the gun on subjects...they just want to point out something to blame to try to understand why this happened and the entertainment media is an easy target. The truth is the guy was severely mentally unbalanced and sometimes we can never know why people commit such crimes...people just want an answer. I hate that they try to target video games and violent movies. Times like this when I am not proud to be an American. OPEN YOUR EYES AMERICA - the whole world is violent and murders happen everyday...stop being so damn ignorant and casting blame on the little things!
