Question: For My Gif/Animation Maker Friends

I was wondering what programs you use and if there are any tutorials on how to use the software/programs. A friend of mine is interested in making gifs, but she doesn't know what/how to use the programs. Any help is much appreciated.

I use Photoshop CS4, but I believe GIMP is the program of choice.

Thanks, sweetie! I didn't know we could make gif w/the the GIMP program. I'll definitely tell her about it. Is it easy to use?

I use Adobe Photoshop CS5 but any photoshop would do. I don't really remember learning from any particular tutorial, it's best to google it or even watch tutorials on youtube. Making gifs is really easy, the hard (and exhausting) part is to make them pretty but still lj friendly.
