With you completely. I never cared for the scoobies because they were a bunch of hypocrites and racists. The latter is almost unavoidable given the premise of such shows, but after seven seasons I would have loved to see the scoobies learn instead of regress or get worse (e.g. Giles on the Spike issue in S7).
Season 6 is my least favourite of the series because it tore down all the characters. Yeah, the redemption for Buffy and for Spike was well-handled in S7, but I kind of wish they didn't go so far especially in how unevenly they handled it all. For instance, Willow's crimes are pretty much brushed under the carpet whereas Spike is never given a break. Argh, don't even get me started!
Thank you! I feel the exact same way. And never mind that Xander was able to spew his hatred with glee towards Spike, and all demons, while also demeaning Anya's former demony status. It was alright for him to do that, but he never got the same vitrol as the others. It's why I've never liked him. I was actually a fan of Giles & Willow until S5-6, although I think that Giles had more of a chance of being a better person had they let him grow out of the Council's teachings. Wesley was allowed to do it, so I never understood why Giles didn't
( ... )
Yup, sounds like we'd have a good rant! Even if we never mentioned the awfulness that is 'Seeing Red'.
Are you rewatching the series? I want to but don't quite have the time to do it justice. Have to say though, it's one show I don't fast-forward much through despite having seen it often and not caring for the 'core' characters all that much.
Haha, it'd be a doozy, that's for sure. ARGH! That episode! The hate that we Spike/Spuffy lovers got so much hate after that episode. That crap was scary, and I refuse to go through that it again. Blah!
Nope, but I probably will one of these days. The only thing I FFWD is Riley, and that's because I can't stand him. He's the most useless character on the show, and that's saying something. Heh.
