Sometimes, Tsurara felt like she was at her wit's end. She knew that she loved Rikuo-sama. She knew that she'd be forever loyal to him, that she'd fight for him and die for him if necessary. She knew that she was proud to serve him and there was no one else she would rather follow.
What she didn't know, however, was whether he saw her as anything other than his bodyguard and subordinate. It vexed her.
Most of the time, he treated her the same way he treated the rest: with respect and friendliness. But then there were those moments. The first one that came to mind was when Gozumaru had attacked her on Mount Nejireme; he'd rushed into battle to save her without any regard for his own safety, cradling her against him and then making sure she was safe afterwards. She could dismiss that (almost), since she was sure he would've rushed in regardless of which of his subordinates had been in danger.
Next was the sakazuki incident. Without warning, he'd changed into his night form in the midst of the ceremony... during her turn. He'd chided her on not drinking her share (as if he expected her to be capable of even thinking in her shock) and then grinned at her while telling her that he was counting on her. She was lucky she'd even been able to fight that night, especially since she'd ended up saving his life.
The Tsuchigumo fiasco was a whole different matter altogether. Upon waking up to discover she'd been taken hostage to be used as bait, she had tried to escape, and had almost resorted to killing herself to keep him safe. He'd shown up and declared he was going to save her (going so far as to say sorry for taking so long). Instead of refusing to let her fight, he'd asked her to lend him her feelings and strength. Then there had been the matoi. Oh kami, the matoi.
"Like I said... your heart and your body... entrust everything to me!" She still blushed whenever that memory surfaced; it was one thing to hear him say something like that, and another thing entirely to experience the sensation of melding her power with his. (Of course, she'd only found out afterwards that he'd done it with Zen-sama first.)
"What are you doing there, Tsurara?" Kejourou's voice jolted her out of her thoughts, causing her to squeak in surprise. "N-nothing!" she replied a little too quickly as she turned to face her fellow clanmate. The older youkai blinked in confusion but decided to move on. "Well, Rikuo-sama asked for you; I think he wants to go over the details about the Awarashi clan's operations."
The young girl sputtered a little before she formed a coherent reply, something that did not escape Kejourou's attention. Before she managed to ask anything else, however, Tsurara had thanked her and sped off in the direction of the briefing room. Shaking her head, the youkai could only let out a long-suffering sigh. All this time and she was still such a poor silly girl.
After all, she had to have realized that Rikuo-sama didn't just go and personally walk all his subordinates home every single night.
