Well this was my first ever Anthrocon and I was lucky enough to room with a coworker and someone else I already knew, and one person I hadn't met. Thankfully all three roommates were awesome, Thank you Randorn, Fallout and LavaWolf.
On Wednesday Randorn and I did allot of volunteering, unloading the trucks, packing gift bags and other miscellaneous stuff. Let me tell you packing 4600 bags your arms want to fall off after, although a little over half those bags passed my hands my arms were red by the end of it, hopefully next year we can have more volunteers doing this, come on it's 1.5X time people you could earn your shirt or next years membership in one nights worth of volunteering alone
Thursday I grabbed my supersponser membership then helped at the registration tables, that was quite allot of fun, I went till my stomach demanded I get food, I plan on helping with registration on Thursday again next year, the rest of Thursday was spent exploring the local food and shops and just having fun
Friday oh Friday I will not forget that day, I started it out with a brief stint at registration then the dealers den, trust me the volunteer ribbon is worth its weight in gold almost as much as the supersponser ribbon, it can gain you access to areas before even the supersponsers can get in all you have to do is help out a bit. After going through the dealers den I went found food, trust me unless you want something to drink avoid the concession stand in the dealers den. Costumed a bit, I didn't costume much the heat and humidity was too much for me. later Friday was great but I found I was running from event to event, I went to the dealers and artists reception which was awesome it was a great way to see the art in the art show with the artists talking about the art, then it was a mad dash off to my room to grab the bottle of mead then head up a floor to the wine tasting then back down to my room to retrieve my ID XD getting carded at my age. It was great getting to taste some truly great wines and some truly awful whines, those that were there will remember the hamster dust and pinesol, that was hideous. My mead was a hit and whoever brought that bottle of homemade I love you, I adore wines with negligible tannins, and that one had such rich complexity. Also I will now have to track down the peach tequila, I hope its sold in Canada.
Saturday I woke up and was only tired from the ruff day despite getting drunker than I have ever gotten before. I am a wise wolfy, food before wine and I avoid tannins like the plague, not only do the ruin the taste of the wine in my opinion, but they are what will kick you around the block the next morning. I got dressed and headed down for the supersponsers dinner with the guests of honor. that was great food and great company. then ran off to get suited up for the parade then ran back to the hotel to grab my tail, I'm such a idiot sometimes. I walked with a griffin lady(sorry I forgot your name) whose costume was awesome and she was fun to talk with. Hall C was torture but afterwords it was great to run into friends which I hadn't seen all con. Seriously we neeed to get a event in the guidebook next year for Alberta furies. then watched a bunch of stuff The ranting griffin Uncle Kage's story hour, the masquerade, a bit of the dance, oh almost forgot I spent way too much at the art show, I have more art than walls to put it on but I love each and every piece I snagged
Sunday aww Sunday the last official day of the con, I went to the two together show with Kage and two sense the ranting griffin, watched the closing ceremonies and went to get the last piece of art I almost forgot to pick up, and I was determined to costume much more than usual this is when I leaned wearing a sports bra under wick away clothing does not work it's just a big sponge holding in water. I'll have to find wick away bras or figure out something else that will work. Dead dog party I just wore a leather wolf mask I bought in the dealers den and two purple glowsticks, yes there was clothing involved just not my halfsuit.
Monday packing up and flying home wishing that Anthrocon lasted longer although I was glad to get away from the oppressive humidity Pictures and video will come later
