Writing fanfiction

Nov 11, 2010 01:36

It's been a while since I posted here hasn't it, I much prefer Twitter now but it doest do well for long posts. I've Been musing over why my fanfictions are so popular though they are often rife with OCs
so

1. if you have a idea go ahead and write the whole thing from start to finish in one go.
Go ahead and write the fairytail endings or the wishful thinking in this first draft it helps to get it out of your system. Never publish the first draft or send it to a proof reader yet

2. Go back and read it through this is the first edit, you will find sentances and paragraphes that propably don't flow well, you will correct them and any other little minor mistakes

3. Kill the fairy: this is now the time to edit out the fluffy everything is good parts, life doest go well and a good read inludes lots of drama; go ahead torture your charicters you may learn this is far more fun than giving them a happily ever after. Here have a whip and have fun

4: Flesh it out: now that your story is sound it can be published; however I recomend going back and adding more. The little every life details can realy make a story come to life

5: go back to step 2 and repeat the steps many times untill you belive it's as pollished as it can get then proseed to step 6

6. Send it to a proof reader; try to find one that's a fan of the seires you are writing about and already has a few well rated stories under their belt. They can not only correct spelling or grammar you may have missed, they can also warn you if you stray to far out of cannon which is not good unless you are writing alternate universe. Then they can help you make it more belivable
With the proof readers help make final edits then publish and enjoy the reviews
