they're all babies that the mothers have abandoned for one reason or another. usually it's because someone destroyed the nest because it was on their property(not always accidentally). usually in a case like that the mother will come back for the babies but sometimes she leaves one or two behind to die. there are also some where the mothers have been killed by pets or construction. we have one set of babies where the mother was killed by an eletrical wire and one of the babies' backs was burned really badly from it (she's doing a lot better though! at first we thought there was no way she would survive). all the ones that are in this post will probably be released in about two weeks. i have three more though that ive just gotten and they are going to be a while still before they are ready.
also; the douglas squirrels (the ones that look more like chipmunks less like rats) were just 35 grams when they came in and now they are 150!! they are so huge and fat!
