FLIP-FLOP PEOPLE: Can someone tell me why Havaianas are so popular at $20-25, when to me they seem no different than, say, the $3 Old Navy flip-flops? Is it just a status thing, like it seems to be with bags, "I can pay $25 for the same product!" Or is there some kind of extra-special quality? Oooh, that is very interesting. So maybe it IS a status thing with the cost and the name-brand? And people are ignoring comfort?

I only asked because I had seen them before but, like I said, thought they just looked like your standard cheapo rubber flip-flops. Then recently, I've seen several times on FB, etc, things like "Got my Havaianas and my new bathing suit and I'm ready for vacation!" and I'm all, "Wait, this is a thing we refer to by brand name?"

So I looked 'em up. And they're expensive. Who knew.

the cheap Old Navy ones are fine, although after a summer of wearing them, you really have to get new ones because the sole wears down and they get slippery.

don't have an answer about the flip flop, i've never heard of them but that's not unusual as i generally remain ignorant of everything fashion evidenced by my year round wearing of birkenstocks. i main just wanted to congratulate you on the AWESOME ice cream buy. 4 pints @ 5 bucks thats ice cream heaven. what flavors did you get?

haha, I just answered the same question on Facebook: I got Half Baked, Everything But and Oatmeal Cookie, and then a repeat of one of them... I think it was a second Half Baked. I am pleased with my selection.
