I don't really mind if a strong female character has a sexy side. Like you said in the Ripley case, there was something very sexy about her in that final scene in Alien. I think it's more the levels of insanity we're getting to. I remember seeing Mortal Kombat:Deadly Alliance at my second E3, and there was a character with a full 360 degree rotation in her boob bounce.
It's interesting that you mentioned Mass Effect, because in the character of Ashley Williams, I found a video game character that I felt I had gotten to know and care about. She seemed more than just a member of your party, and she was a strong character, yet fiercely sexual when she and Shepard realize their feelings for each other. She's very Heinleinian in that sense. Maybe that's what I want in a game heroine, someone like Friday...
