Comment Amnesty and a Poll of Interest

Feb 29, 2008 09:06

It's Leap Day, so to celebrate this quirky occasion, I declare a Comment Amnesty for last year's John/Vala Thing-a-thon! I know I got ambushed by RL last year... Now's your weekend to lavish love on everyone's gifts. Here's the Master List and here's the community tagWhich brings us to this year's Thing-a-thon. Technology is finally on our side for ( Read more... )

Feel free to dismiss this as having exactly as much value as you're paying for it (none), but perhaps if the participatory numbers are low (I can think of one person from last year who seems to have left fandom, at least the writing of fanfic, since) a small fest with a list of prompts that the writers could choose from instead of an exchange would be easier. I do realize that writers tend to do a little better in completing assignments for exchanges (guilt is a wonderful motivator), but tailoring stories to prompts that didn't click for me is the hardest part of such things.

You could judge the level of interest in participating from a post gathering suggested prompts, too.

I've had a while to ponder this community as a whole, so yes, I've considered pretty much everything you're suggesting. This poll is just for the Thing-a-thon.

Not to be a downer in my own comm, but, well, not enough numbers = no Thing-a-thon. It wouldn't be mathematically doable.

Well, given a memorial day due date or somewhere around there, I'll take part, barring acts of God and unnatural disasters, if you do it.

:D Yay!

I should say -- nothing has been ruled out. At all. But one thing at a time. The Thing-a-thon once again has a narrow window because of both Stargate schedules and my own, so ruling it in or out is time-sensitive.

It's up to all of you. I'm ready one way or another. I really want to switch gears so this community runs on its own legs, but a year later purveyors of this 'ship are still hard to find, so enthusiasts need to make their own noise.

Mostly it would be nice if last year's stories got their day in the sun again, so I'm very hopeful about that part.

I voted that I'm buying the DVD, because I will, I just don't know that I will have it before the Thing-a-Thon. But you already knew that. :)

Also, while I will help out however I can, I will not be signing up. Because me and due dates are generally unmixy. :(

*pats* Is all good. I will theoretically need less intensive help if we launch. Help of the canon kind will be sorely needed, I foresee.

(I'm cheating. I'm not starting the Thing-a-thon until I get mine.)

Yay! I loved the last thing-a-thon. I think the prompt thing might be a nice idea...but I do like the idea of people getting things they want. It makes it a little more special...but that's just my two cents.

Whichever way you decide to go, I'd be more than happy to help-out with anything :)

Thank you! :D There are lots of things we can possibly do, except the Thing-a-thon has extra machinery and needs a full house of players. So, I stress that ruling in the Thing-a-thon does not rule out anything *else* :) I just have to find out about the Thing-a-thon the quickest.

We'll have new canon! It will be so exciting. :D

I could at least try to be canon-assisting. I have the complete set of SG1 so it'd be easy to check things
