Because I'd Rather Not Clean

Jun 25, 2006 19:03

So this was viciously stolen from chaos_and_music.

1. What are you listening to right now?
"Medication"- Waking Ashland

2. What song makes you sad?
"What Sarah Said" - Death Cab for Cutie --It always makes me think of my recently passed grandparents.

3. What is the most annoying song in the world?
This one hip hop song that's sung in Spanish that a bunch of stupid girls on my floor freshman year would NOT stop singing. I have no clue what the name of it is or who it's by...but I hate it!

4. Your all time favorite band?
It's a real toss up between the Beatles and Something Corporate

5. Your newly discovered band is?
Gym Class Heroes, Cartel

6. Best female voice?
Sarah Brightman's good, but you have to be good to be a classical/opera singer. I really like Amy Lee from Evanescence's voice, and for some strange reason I love Fiona Apple's vocals.

7. Best male voice?
Andrew McMahon from Something Corporate and Jack's Mannequin. His voice makes me blush. There's also Chris Martin from Coldplay. Plus there's the lead singer from Motion City Soundtrack and I love the stuble and expert pronunciations of the lead singer from Panic! At The Disco. I know, I'm weird.

8. Music type you find yourself listening to most?
I'm going to put my music under the broad umbrella of rock, but I do listen to a lot of emo.

9. What do you listen to to hype you up?
"Everything is Alright" and "The Future Freaks Me Out," both by Motion City Soundtrack always get me going. "I Woke Up in a Car" by Something Corporate never fails to put a smile on my face. "Helter Skelter" is a Beatles favorite to get me pumped.

10. What do you listen to to calm down?
I listen to a lot of classical music to mellow out. "Venus: Bringer of Peace" is a piece by Gustav Holst that makes for a terrific lullaby. The French horn solo is just enchanting. I often find myself listening to some Death Cab for Cutie, or even Frou Frou.

11. Last gig/concert you went to?
I went to the Bamboozle festival a month or so ago.

12. Band you find yourself listening to the most right now?
Panic! At The Disco and Jack's Mannequin, among others. I have the tendency to put my music on shuffle and just let things flow from there.

13. Most hated band?
Days Away, because the lead singer creeps me out. I can't really say that I specifically "hate" a band, but I do dislike a few. O.A.R., while I do enjoy a couple of their songs, I have the idea that they'd do better with a nicer sounding vocalist

14. Song that makes you think?
If a song doesn't make me think on some level, then I usually don't spend too much time listening to it to begin with.

15. Band that you think the world should love as much as you do?
Something Corporate, because they're damn cool. Missing Point, because it'd be awesome to have my friend and Fraternity Brother Josh become famous.

16. Coolest music video?
I love Gym Class Heroes' video for "Cupid's Chokehold". The concept of a prototype robotic girlfriend gone comedically wrong is hilarious and blends amazingly with the lyrical content of the song itself.

17. Music video with the most babe watch?
I love Mr. Andrew McMahon...yes, I do!

18. What "do you play/would you play" in the bedroom to spice things up?
Er...well...I don't need music, so there!

19. Can you play a musical instrument?
I sing, that counts, right? I play a bit of piano. In school, I've played trumpet and French horn. I play mellophone now.

20. Ever been in a mosh pit?
Yeah! And I didn't get hurt!

21. Are you in a band?
Do marching bands count...?

22. If yes, what kind of music does your band play and what is your role in it?
Marching...music...?

23. Ever dated a musician?
Yup. Actually, most of the guys I've dated have been musicians.

24. If yes, what kind of music did he/she/they play?
A couple were in marching band with me. One played rock, and another was actually a liturgical musician.

27. If no, would you consider?
Yeah.

28. Do you wish yourself that you were a musician?
Yeah, because sometimes I think that I'm really not one and just pretending to be one. Those are my sad days.

29. Best chick band you know of?
...The Spice Girls? I don't really know of too many chick bands, which is very unfortunate.

30. Best guy band you know of?
Obviously, the Beatles. Aerosmith's up there too. And yes, Something Corporate.

31. Last song that you heard on the radio/cd...etc...?
I'm listening to "I Am For You" by Waking Ashland on iTunes right now.

32. What do you think of Classical music?
I wish more people didn't just casually dismiss it.

33. What do you think of Country music?
Because of my roommate and my friend Adam's evil influence, I've been slowly warming up to a select few country songs hear and there. I like listening to country music while working on the farm for the pure comedic value.

34. What do you think of Death metal?
I really don't know about it...or what all the screaming's about.

35. Last BIG band that you saw live?
Fall Out Boy? I saw Bruce Springsteen and the E. Street Band back in high school. Now that's big in every way you can think of!

36. Are you a groupie?
Haha, maybe if I wasn't a prude or so incredibly shy.

37. Do you listen to music in foreign languages?
Hai! Si! I have a good amount of Japanese tunes and a handful of Spanish songs and maybe an Italian song or two in my iTunes.

38. What famous musician would you like to fuck!?
Andrew McMahon...oh yeah. And the boys from Panic! At The Disco aren't so bad either.

39. Worst concert moment?
I was seeing Something Corporate and Story of the Year at Moravian College my freshman year, and under my t-shirt, I was wearing a tank-top with a built-in bra. Well, I'd done a lot of jumping around during Something Corporate's set, so when I went to take off my t-shirt in between sets, my best friend and her friend unfortunately got to see a bit too much of me. Evidently, the top of my tank top had gotten caught under my left one. Yeah. I put my t-shirt back on pretty quickly. I was so embarrassed that I didn't even bother to ask if the other boy who was us had seen anything.

40. Funny concert moment?
See above, since months after that incident, I was actually dating the boy we'd gone to the concert with, and when I finally asked him if he saw anything that night, he said no! Phew!
Other moments include a member of the Plain White T's randomly starting to bleed from the head during a set and the rest of the band joking to him about it. Plus, the lead singer of Hellogoodbye getting the wind knocked out of him while tackling a kid dressed as a condiment.

41. Sad concert moment?
Um...I think the concert for tsunami relief, because the fact that so many bands had only gotten together because of such a tragic event, though the reason they were doing it to help out was amazing.
Also, seeing so many teeny bopper/TRL-crazed girls leave right after Yellow card performed "Ocean Avenue" when they dual-headlined with Something Corporate made me sad, if only for the fact that so many stupid girls paid money to go to a concert and listen to one band play one freaking song! Something Corporate hadn't even come onstage yet!

42. Best local act you can think of?
Missing Point, 'cause my buddy Josh is in it.

43. If you were a musical instrument what would you be?
Andrew Mcmahon's piano...use your imagination to find the dirtiness there, kids.

44. Do you listen to the radio?
Yes, so I can have some background noise while I'm driving.

45. Do you watch music TV?
I watch MTVU while I'm at school because they actually PLAY MUSIC VIDEOS. What a concept. But, I only really watch it while I'm doing something else, like getting ready to go out, or ironing or something.

46. Do you follow the music charts, like the top 40?
Not too much. But if VH1 or MTV has a short feature on a newly discovered artist or band, I'll often check out their music.

47. Have you met any famous musicians?
Nah.

48. Are any of your friends/family musicians?
Me! - vocals, piano, trumpet, French horn, mellophone
Little sister - vocals, flute, trumpet, trombone, alto sax, clarinet, violen, guitar
Dad - guitar
Grandfather - harmonica
Mom - has history with accordion
Twin sister - has history with guitar and mallet percussion
And most of my friends are musicians, so I'm not even going to bother trying to list.

49. Song that best describes your feelings right now?
I like the one I'm listening to now, Travis' "Follow the Light". It's very hopeful.

50. Song that describes your life?
"I Woke Up In A Car" would be a song I would love to describe my life eventually. "The Future Freaks Me Out" does a good job too, if just for the fact that the name Betty is derived from my first name.

51. Do you know the names of all the band members that you listen to?
Oh man, no, not really. But, it tends to be that the older the band, the more a chance I have of knowing the names of its members.

52. Does a musicians physical attractiveness play a role in the music?
No, but a lot of times, I'll try to imagine a singer's physical features from his/her voice, and then be surprised when my assumptions are wrong.Andrew McMahon, of course. The vocalist from Gym Class Heroes, 'cause he seems pretty cool. Oh, and you can burn me at the stake for being a fan girl, but I wouldn't mind at all if Pete or the lead singer from Fall Out Boy came at me with a ring. That, and it'd be cool to marry the lead singer from Panic! At The Disco so I could meet up with him at strip joints, like in their video, and we'd get to have carnies at our wedding. Carnies...sweet! And finally, the only reason I would marry the lead singer from All American Rejects would be just for the fact that I would then violently force feed him...with love. The boy needs a truck load of pork chops, stat!

53. Favourite movie soundtrack?
The "Spiderman 2" soundtrack was good, and recently the "Sound of Superman" one is pretty good too.

55. Any musician pet hates?
Microphone swinging can get on my nerves after a while...eh, not really though.

56. What do your parents listen to?
My dad's into classic rock and blues, while my mom likes pop and easy listening. You known, she's really into Fleetwood Mac and Elton John.

57. What are you listening to right NOW?
"The Politics of Life" - Waking Ashland -- Seriously, they just keep showing up on my shuffle playlist whenever I have to put down what I'm listening to.

58. Do you wear band etc T-shirts?
Yeah. Actually, I just found my Something Corporate t-shirt, which I thought lost for months.

59. What do you think of people who do?
It's cool with me.

60. What music sub-culture do you feel like you belong to?
Emo, I guess...I'll go cry about that now.

61. What song is stuck in your head right now?
"Twilight Zone," from the mixed cd my roommate made for me back during the school semester.

62. Do you sing in the shower?
Yeah.

63. If so, what? If not, why not?
I usually sing songs that make my voice sound pretty. I sing a lot of show tunes. I tend to sing Something Corporate's "Konstantine". I've found myself running through the songs on Jack's Mannequin's "Everything in Transit" album a lot, too.

64. Would you rather marry a musician or be one yourself?
This one's tough. I'd love to marry a musician, but probably someone who isn't as good a musician as myself, since I'd get incredibly envious if he showed me up, even unintentionally. I've got real ego problems, I know.

65. What is in your CD player right now?
My cd player still has one of my dad's Gary Hoey Christmas albums in it from the Christmas party I threw last year.

66. How important is your partners taste in music to you?
It's important, but I wouldn't date a guy for his taste in music. An open mind for accepting the music that I'm into is enough, I think.

67. Hanson moves in next door to you, do you go introduce yourself, or do you arrange to beat them up?
Okay, even if I don't like their music, why would I want to beat up Hanson? I'm sure they're nice guys. I'll make them some cookies.

68. Sex, drugs, and rock 'n roll, you dig?
Sex with proper protection, only drugs my doc perscribes, and hell yeah with the rock 'n' roll, boy!

69. Do you cook to music?
No, because I just don't think to put music on. More often, I'll just put the tv on while I'm cooking.

70. Do you sing on the toilet?
No...okay, sometimes I'll hum...but not loudly!
