Belle is back home and needy as ever. A lot more energy and feeling better. Although she hates the fact that she has a little wrap from where they stuck her with the IV. Diagnosis was HGE. It caused the stomach and intestines to swell causing vomiting and bloody diarrhea. Can occur in any dogs any age, but most common in young toy

Whew! I'm SO glad she's home! I had never heard of HGE before and had no idea it was so common in dachsies. Now I'll know what to be on the lookout for if any of my guys develop those symptoms. I'm so glad that it was something that responds so well to treatment and that Belle is doing so much better. Of course she's gonna be needy, she went to the Big Bad Place and now she's back with her Daddies. She needs remedial snuggling and spoilage, stat! *laugh*

Neither did we. No one knows the cause of it. some say it's a bacterial toxin, some say virus, some say allergies. ::shrug::

I'm just glad she's getting better.

They say that the desease is considered an emergency because it can be fatal. I'm just glad we took her to the vet when we did.

"Big, Bad place" my butt. LOL the way she treats the doctors and techs there, it's as if they pamper her. As I said, we love our vet.
