I went to my Maxillofacial Surgeon yesterday for a follow-up appointment. He said that my upper jaw is healing too narrowly. He pulled my upper jaw apart with some butterfly device and then he put buttons on the inside of my upper right teeth, and a rubber band pattern so complicated that you’d need someone with a Ph.D. in rubber band patterns to ( Read more... )

Hmmm... maybe that's my problem then, b/c I'm definitely cranky. If I didn’t have to function, I’d request Demerol.

Maxillofacial Surgeon=Oral spurgeon?

Sort of. He's an oral surgeon too. The maxilla is the jaw bone. Not all oral surgeons are specialized in that field, but most maxillofacial surgeons are also oral surgeons.

Ahh ok! Did'nt know that I think mine is a maxillofacial doc too 'cuz he's the head of facial trauma at one of the two big med centers here and on staff at the other

Give me surgery I guess, but when I went to the doctor this week, he said it was getting better.

Thanks! Me too--it sucked. But I went to another appointment this week, and he said that it was getting better. So, things are looking up.
