Did you ever talk to your doctor about those blood tests? One of the other things my doc told me when she got me off that stuff was that Psychiatrists often overlook what social and life situations may be causing symptoms that mimic a major disorder like bi-polar, and that an overdose is usually the only way they can tell if it's a misdiagnosis. So they basically let you get your body all messed up before they'll say, "Woops, maybe this isn't good for ,i>you." and event hen they will try very hard to explain it away rather than admit they were wrong. Another doctor should keep the first one in check, ya know? If anyone has had some major life situations happening I'd say it's you.

I do need to talk to him about that. When I was with my first psychiatrist, she ordered blood tests to make sure I didn't have a thyroid problem or other problems that could mimic depression. Also, i have had BP symptoms since I was 13, long before I had major life situations. My current psych is the one who sent me for the sleep study, and he is the first doctor, psych or other, that suggested it.

I don't know for crtain if they can tell a darn thing from blood work before you've been medicated for a problem like that, but I know that they are able for certain to spot it if you have been given a med you don't need. It will act like a toxin in your body and cause many other problems.

I've always battled depression since my early teens, but it has come and gone depending on where I've been and what has been happening. Some of us are just more prone to these types of problems than others, and it gets very tricky for our doctors to try and help us without hurting us more. I suppose they can't be blamed either way, but it can be very scary and frustrating to try and find a way to live "normally". I personally like to think it's a sign of deep intelligence and sensitivity to be so affected by the world, and unable to simply skip merrily through life and shrug everything off. It's one of the things that helps me get through the day! lol...
