Getting woken up early because of what I think is the fire alarm and then turns out to be the carbon monoxide alarm going off in the house for the first time ever and then finding out that my parents have gone out whilst I was asleep was not the way I wanted to start my day

what caused the alarm to go off in any case? (we once had an alarm going off in the staircase and apparently the reason was the freaking cooking school in the building next to our house XDDDD)

A carbon monoxide leak apparently... but we don't know - after it stopped because I opened all the windows and doors.
