Arya was extremely pleased to be out of that dress, even though that had been a week or so ago. Being back in shorts and her new tunic was a great relief. It meant she could run and jump and tumble again, and so that's what she was doing, trying to cover the distance between Summerfell and the compound as quickly and creatively as possible ( Read more... )

Lyanna heard her niece coming before she arrived. Thus, she was already armed with a comb and brush from the compound when Arya returned, her own hair quite voluminously shiny after a bit of personal grooming.

It fell in ways that Polly would have attributed to an oversupply of Evil Wiles.

And oh, the grin on her face was positively blinding in its brightness. There was no escape. "A deal is a deal," the elder she-wolf happily chirped.

Arya halted, going from a run to completely still without appearing to cover any of the intervening speeds.

She looked glumly up at Lyanna. "Now?"

"Now," Lyanna sternly confirmed, scrutinizing her niece with a squinty, decidedly determined gaze.

"I had hoped to give your hair a wash, but that would be a waste of our half an hour," she mused, beckoning her to follow her deeper into the shelter with a crook of the brush. "This may very well be a stupid question, but do you ever bother to plait your hair?"

Arya followed slowly, eyeing the brush. "No. Why would I? I'm only going to cut it short again soon, then there won't be anything to plait."
