Helen was born August 27, 1850 to Gregory Magnus & Patricia Heathering. As a child she was head strong, unafraid of trusting her beliefs and more specifically her father. Helen was an intelligent girl, excelling in her home studies and preferring more practical forms of education than those seen as more fitting of a young lady - though that isn't to say that she didn't partake in those activities also. With tutelage from her father and also schooling at Oxford, Helen took the route and practises to enable her to become a doctor.
Despite her intelligence, capabilities and aide from her father, her application to join the Royal College was denied three times by the Board of Directors. Helen took this to her father who encouraged her to try again but she could not. Instead she urged him to show her his work, the work that he found most dear and had kept secret even from her. Although this route was risky, even controversial Helen took it, excited, enthralled and with a curious and firm mind about her.
Helen forayed into the world of abnormals - beings, even humans, that had developed something else to them including elementals, creatures of myths, or even something far simpler. With her mind about her Helen studied alongside her father, learning all that she could about his work and the creatures that he had found - even many historical or mythological texts held key information to their work.
Helen took her studies further; along with a group of friends that she'd made at Oxford, a group that would quickly become known as The Five, she worked on a deeper scale, looking to see what it was that caused abnormalities. After procuring a rare, pure sample of the blood of the Sanguine Vampiris - ancient vampires whom had become sterilised and extinct, the group began experimentation with the sample. After some time they managed to derive a serum from the blood, something which they believed would answer many questions. Despite it's risks and the unknown in which it presented, Helen opted to inject the serum first as the idea had been her creation. The effects of the serum affected each of The Five differently, altering their genetics and giving each their own abnormalities - Helen's being longevity.
The Five continued their work in secret, experimenting, studying and testing the limits of their new found 'powers'. Their experiments found a resistance to certain drugs, a heightened immune system and even a lacking in a need to sleep - the requirements being shortened to only a couple of hours per night. The dynamics between The Five changed too; their friendships deepened and from that relationships blossomed. Helen and John became lovers and eventually became engaged.
With great wonders also came complications, as several of the members of The Five - most notably John and Nikola - had some troubles adjusting to their new powers. Although Helen was able to help Nikola, and despite her best efforts with John, it seemed that his problems were a little more complex. Darker times came for The Five as a deadly evil hit the streets of London, one that would hit closer to home than any of them would first think. John was eventually revealed to be Jack the Ripper, the notorious murderer whom had terrorised Whitechapel. Whilst this shook and broke part of The Five the damage was worsened for Helen. Due to John's instability with his ability and becoming ill, Helen had given him some of her blood - something that she believed worsened his mind rather than helped him. Their relationships broke down and Helen discovered that she was pregnant. Panicked, Helen turned to James for help and was able to cryogenically freeze the embryo, knowing that it would not be safe for her child whilst John was alive. Helen later sought John out with an offer to help him. When that failed she shot him, in an attempt to stop him instead - something that she also failed in doing.
1898 saw the return of Adam Worth to Helen's life after his daughter, Imogene, became ill. He sought out the help of both Helen and James, hoping that they would be able to help her where other doctors had failed. When Helen determined that there was nothing that they were able to do for her Adam pleaded with them, trying to persuade them by mentioning their experimental research with blood. Given that the experiment had been dangerous enough for them Helen refused, stating that it was far too dangerous for a child. Months later when Imogene died Adam blamed Helen for killing her through her refusal to help.
That time would also be one of Helen's most fearful moments regarding John Druitt. Although the Jack the Ripper killings had long since stopped, another killer had began killing in a similar fashion, something which Helen and James attributed to John. When he visited her to try and persuade her that he was not the killer Helen feared for her life, unable to see the John that she had known in him now. Helen and James later determined that John had been correct and that he had not been responsible for the killings but instead an abnormal known as Jack (Spring-Heeled Jack) was instead responsible. Due to him knowing her father Helen was able to convince Jack to come and stay at the Sanctuary, thus gaining their first permanent resident.
Helen's dealings with Adam Worth were by no means finished. After Adam's experiments became dangerous, Helen and the rest of The Five were reunited with an offer from the King - he would fund Helen's research and pardon the others of their crimes if they agreed to stop Adam Worth. Helen's initial reaction was to refuse, not wishing to become an assassin or delve into that world but given the stakes, and what the King knew, they eventually agreed. They devised a plan to apprehend Adam, preferring to do so than to kill him. When it was discovered that that was no longer an option they 'hunted' Adam down, Helen finally shooting Adam, with him falling from a cliff. They believed Adam to be dead, although over a century later would see his return.
Helen's work within the Sanctuary continued, with James close by. With Helen's father travellng and researching into abnormals Helen and James were able to run the UK Sanctuary, inviting more residents in and later expanding their operations. In 1912 Helen travelled aboard the Titanic, travelling to New York to look into expanding the Sanctuary Network further. Her hopes were cut short after disaster struck and Helen was, thankfully, rescued by Molly Brown. Helen later continued her trip, setting up the New York Sanctuary along with many others throughout the years and over the world, setting up her own home base in Old City, British Columbia where she ran the Network as Head of Operations.
1917 saw further adventures for Helen as she took to Egypt, meeting with Nikola Tesla. They spent five years there, searching for the tomb of Tutankhamen. When their search appeared fruitless, and Howard Carter began searching, the pair left, although they were significantly disappointed when his search quickly uncovered the tomb.
The Sanctuary Network continued to expand throughout the years, in terms of staff as well as with additional Sanctuary's. In 1932 saw a new addition to the Old City Sanctuary, one which would become very important and dear to Helen. Helen recruited a man known as Barney to the Sanctuary, a man that would learn from her, become her aide, a valued colleague and friend. Sadly the partnership didn't last as the work eventually became too much for the man but he still remains one of Helen's dear friends, someone that she accomplished much with and allowed for new progressions.
During the midst of World War II when Nikola ran into trouble with several nations, after promising each of them a "death ray" after naively believing that it would cause world peace (or at least the end of the war) Helen faked his death, hoping to put an end to it. On June 5, 1944, Helen, James, Nigel and Nikola (whom had been pulled out of hiding) were called again by the British Government when it was revealed that the Nazi's had a plan involving abnormals. Helen, James and Nigel travelled to Carentan (France) as part of a resistant group whilst Nikola stayed in London, under guard whilst he worked (he was unable to travel as General Eisenhower would have shot him had he tried to board a plane). Although Helen and James became captured by the Nazi's (with the aide, and then along with John Druitt), Nigel and their allies were able to free them. In doing so they were able to complete their goals, having learned that the abnormal in question was a Tunisian fire elemental, one which would have been completely uncontrollable had the Nazi's weapon (a weather device that had been stolen from James Watson) been able to be activated. Instead James managed to use the device to drive the creature underground, stopping their plans.
Helen recruited Will Zimmerman to the Sanctuary and her team (consisting of Ashley, Henry Foss and Bigfoot) believing that his psychological and detective insights would be a great asset. Along with continuing the mission of the Sanctuary Helen also managed to catch the attention of the Cabal - another organisation with an interest in abnormals, although not for the same reasons as the Sanctuary. Later when the Cabal threatened the abnormal community The Five met, travelling to Bhalasaam in order to retrieve the Source Blood in order to devise a cure. Following this Helen's daughter Ashley is taken by the Cabal, using the stolen Source Blood to turn her into a weapon. Helen defends the Sanctuary Network against the Cabal and with no choice left Ashley sacrifices herself in order to save both her mother and the Sanctuary. Helen at first struggles to grieve for Ashley, refusing to let her go. When Ashley's birthday comes round she struggles with it again, unable to ask for the help and comfort that she needs. Although the Sanctuary continues with it's mission it becomes a little shakier, particularly when a tidal wave disrupts multiple abnormals and there are global sightings. Discovering India to be the source the Sanctuary team travels there, learning that it is in fact Big Bertha that is the cause of the disruptions - an abnormal whom the Sanctuary Network (barring Helen herself) has believed dead. Despite being deposed from her position Helen sets out in attempting to calm Big Bertha, hoping to restore the natural order. When the actions of Terrance Wexford (the Head of the New York Sanctuary and the one who deposed Helen) further exaccerbate the situation it falls to Will to be able to defuse it, although the means are rather drastic - to be able to contact Kali (the representation of Big Bertha) he has to die. In an attempt to do this as safelt as possible, using medically controlled methods, Will accepts the duty and Helen manages to revive him despite him being dead longer than recommended.
Will's death (and resurrection) brought something new to the Sanctuary - a message from Helen's father, and a rather cryptic clue that only Helen could decipher. The message brought them a new goal, a secondary 'adventure' alongside the mission of the Sanctuary - information regarding a city hidden beneath the surface of Earth, and possibly more information regarding the origins and predecessions of abnormals. After rescuing Nikola from a destroyed Cabal facility she enlisted his help in solving the puzzle of Hollow Earth and learned one crucial thing - the city had high defences against Vampires (and even Helen and Nikola, given the Vampiric properties in their blood).
After later receiving a message from an abnormal whom wanted to meet Helen and her team travelled to what appeared to be an abandoned building. Trapped inside Helen ended up fighting for her life, and fighting to reveal the identity of her mysterious attacker (whom she discovered to be Adam Worth). After managing to stop Adam and discover what it was that he was aiming to do Helen discovered that she was sick from radiation poisoning - something that had occur whilst being trapped with Adam - to the point where she almost died from it. After managing to find the location of Hollow Earth (where the cure for her illness was along with her father) Helen went in search of it. After going to Hollow Earth Helen (and her team) were killed due to Praxian laws, although this was only taken out so that Ranna was seen to be following the Senate (which she wasn't as she revived Helen and her team afterwards so that they could talk). After helping Ranna with Adam (who had later come to Hollow Earth and was on a plan of destruction) Helen learned the full story of how he had survived and what he had been doing (and why he was so desperate to return). After believing Adam to be dead (by the hands of John Druitt) Helen (now cured) returned to the Sanctuary.
After continuing to study the information held within the map, Helen and Nikola travelled to an abandoned Vampire safeguard. After almost being killed by Praxian defences Helen managed to revamp Nikola (after finding a vampire queen in stasis), something which almost saw her vampire court be revived and attempt to take over the world. After tricking her with the Praxian map (which gave her the location of Praxis but also killed her due to the vampire sensors protecting Praxis) Helen returned again to the Sanctuary, with Nikola leaving to return to his pursuits (and no doubt try to bring back vampires again).
After later learning of a distress in Carentan with people disappearing (the same place where Helen and James had been during 1945) Helen believed that her actions then had been responsible. After fixing the problem (and discovering yet another time dilation field - this one much stronger and problematic) Helen linked this to Adam, later discovering that he was in fact not dead. After abnormals from Praxis started returning to the surface Helen (along with John) returned to Praxis in hopes of finding Ranna or her father and learning what had occurred. This didn't go to plan when they instead found that Praxis had been entirely destroyed due to Adam and his latest experiment: time travel. The end of season three saw Adam complete his experiment and travel back in time to 1898 in hopes of preventing his daughter from dying, something which he blamed Helen for.

Due to the nature of her condition there was little that Helen could do and subsequently both her and James were blamed for Imogene's death. The (UK) Sanctuary also gained its first permanent resident

2010
2011
Following travelling to 1898, Helen followed Adam through London in an attempt to stop him. After being injured and taken in by Scotland Yard Helen met up with James Watson. His deductive mind allowed him to figure out what had happened and Helen filled in the more important blanks, allowing him to aide her and stop her from altering the future irrevocably. After near misses with herself and John Druitt (although her actions with him weren't entirely protective of her future) Helen managed to find Adam.
Despite Adam curing Imogen (and altering the future) Helen wouldn't allow this to stand lead another attack on Adam. During the chase Helen was injured, and following that injured Adam, although this wasn't the end to it. Imogen had left the loft in pursuit of her father and Helen and whilst trying to attack Helen died in a rubble blast, putting the future back as it should be. This wasn't the end as Adam was determined to do more, blaming Helen once again despite all actions being his own and after once again trying to kill Helen she killed him - the future Adam.
Her actions with Adam had caught the notice of both James and 1898!Helen and caused her to quickly hide whilst they, a crowd and 1898!Adam came to Imogen. After making an escape Helen later met up with James, thanking him for his help, promising him to secrecy and began to say her goodbyes. Despite originally planning suicide (since a way home was impossible and she was unable to stay in London) James managed to change her mind, giving her the idea of solitude until she met up with her timeline. Although the idea seems a little ridiculous, 113 years in solace - a rather more extended holiday than Helen could ever take, she in the end agreed, leaving both James and London.
Helen, using the name Helen Bancroft, travelled to Peru under the guise of living in solitude. Rather Helen knew that once she 'caught up' to 2011 and her life that things with the Sanctuary Network and the lives of humans and abnormals would not be the same.
TIMELINE: REDUX
1898 After following Adam Worth to London Helen had to try and prevent his place of curing his daughter, Imogene, from succeeding. Under the name of Helen Bancroft, Helen travelled to Nepal
1916 Helen travelled to New York to meet up with Nikola Tesla, securing a position at Lahore University
1921 Helen attented a private symposium in London hosted by Viscount in honour of Albert Einstein
1948 Helen worked with Fuller at Black Mountain University, North Carolina
1956 In Peru Helen was on the Board of Directors in the Great South American Mining Corporation
1964 Helen opened a provisions store in Cooper Pedy, Australia
2011 Helen returned to Old City, making her way back to the Sanctuary in order to tend to the problem that had arisen from the Hollow Earth abnormals after the original Helen had left for London. Putting her plan into motion, Helen cut of ties and funding with the world's governments, taking the Sanctuary Network 'rogue'. This ran into troubles after the government retaliated by creating SCUI - a government division that aimed to capture and 'study' abnormals, although not in a way that Helen liked. By working against them, by freeing abnormals and stopping them where possible, along with trying to help the Hollow Earth abnormals to set up their own living arrangements Helen ran into trouble. Although it would seem unexpected Helen knew that the possibility for it was there. When there appeared to be no way to go, with conflicts on both the human and abnormal sides Helen put her end game plan into motion; the final culmination of her plan involved the destruction of the Old City Sanctuary, with all residents from the Sanctuary Network and those under her protection from Hollow Earth returning to a new Hollow Earth
