- 18:37:38: Update: computer is not dead, leaving it unplugged for several minutes helped. However, boot drive is fucked.

- 19:26:48: Disk image completed successfully. I think now I'm going to try and format it, then restore from the image, in the hopes that'll fix this.

- 21:16:27: Reformatted the desktop's boot drive, and restoring it from an image. With luck, this will work.
- 21:22:53: Why are SSDs still so expensive?! Would someone please let me know when I can get a 250GB unit for less than $300?
- 22:22:31: Filesystem is not recoverable in it's entirity. Oh joy. So I have to go back to the most recent time machine backup and rebuild.
- 22:41:57: And Time Machine won't let me pick a network volume (it just sits there, disabled) to restore from. This just gets better and better.
- 22:45:19: So, since the DVD won't let me network restore, I'm going to have to upgrade the firewire "emergency" disk just to restore from.
