1. So I read Blue Like Jazz and blush to admit that I loved it. It seemed a little arrogant...but it was good to read a faairly funny book from a believer who has a similiar perspective on the gospel of this man, Jesus. I am however reading his follow up "Searching For God Knows What" and it seems that all the things are disliked about Blue Like ( Read more... )

It's OK to like trendy books, sometimes. Sometimes they're actually good. :)

(although I am arrogantly proud to say that I read Blue Like Jazz long before the hype.)

Hi!

I am glad to hear that you and your beautiful wife are doing well. Sometime we should all hang out. Like, for real and stuff. I would invite y'all out with me and my friends tomorrow (we're invading Bham) but it's a girls' night and, well, you're a boy.

Liz could come though. :)

Oh, and I am doing well, also.

Yo, yo, bro. Good to see you Sunday before last. I didn't get much of a chance to talk, but I talked to your beautiful wife, who proceeded to invite me over next time I'm in town. I think I might take her up on it, if you're down with that ( ... )

Dude, you should definately come over and let us make you dinner and feed you beer and wine. We enjoy playing host/hostess. You really have no choice in the matter.

So you're reading Atlas Shrugged? Have you read The Fountainhead? I understand your crush on my brain, i mean, it's a pretty hot brain. Actually it's just my hair that makes my brain look good. Really my brain is ugly and over worked. Let me know how the book is. I think Ayn Rand is a fabulous writer, but her philosophies frustrate me.

You and Kelly have a good time. Oh and all you have to do to fix the name thing is just giver her a new one. Whoops!

Good to see you and hear from you, my friend.

There's no whoops in that shit. I would say just come out and say it, but I think you did.

What frustrates you about Rand, and would you read the fountainhead or atlas first? Or would you recommend letting your brain rest and read those during the summer?

And I accept your beer and wine, and I raise you a sweet dessert, which Kelly and I will bring.

i miss you clint!! i would really like to come eat dinner with you guys :) I am doing swell too. Although I am not really digging this go to work and class all day thing. What happened to nap time and recess??

i went to a book reading by Donald Miller a couple months ago and I have to say it was pretty kick ass. he read from some of his newest books and the personality he put behind the words as he read them gave them a lot of life. I was laughing pretty hard. The two books he read from (i can't remember the titles, but I am assuming the are the 2 newest....not the ones you mentioned)

he said where he grew up people used to go to book readings all the time. and tons of people who go to hear excerpts of books by their authors. that's cool.

later..;.

Nap time and recess have entered the annals of our history unfortunately.

Kelly. I miss you. Come hang out with us. We will feed you.

I bet going to a reading would make me like Don Miller more. He really is pretty funny.

Glad you're doing well. Stay in touch, yo.

That precise kind of arrogance is such a dichotomy. It's anti-arrogance, arrogance. Like liking the world and hating the church. Steve told me once that I may not feel at home in church, but I wouldn't feel at home in the world, either. So, where does that leave us? I guess we're just doomed to be in limbo for awhile. (not in the Catholic sense.)

1. I hate that stupid book.

4. I hate myself.

(Actually, I don't hate myself. I love myself)

Why do you hate it? (Not that I'm a fan, I'm just curious.)
I hate myself for what I haven't done. And I hate this girl that used to work at Briarwood. I didn't know that until I told my friend Amy that there was "absolutely nothing good about her." Is that honesty, or just hate?
