"Is that any way to talk to me? I haven't seen you for three years, Nick!"
Nick crosses his arms and glares. "You could have stopped by."
"You made it pretty clear you didn't want anything to do with us."
"And yet, here you are."
"Kevin's missing."
"He probably got lost. Or he saw a shiny object and got distracted. It's Kevin."
"He's out hunting and he went missing!"
"My point still stands."
Joe frowns. "Okay, Kevin might just be lost. But dad's gone too. It's just me, Nicky. I need your help."
Nick's jaw works, but Joe can tell he's already won the argument by the way his eyes slowly soften. After three years, he still knows his brother. "Just for the weekend," Nick says. "I have a gig on Monday."
"Just for the weekend," Joe assures him, but he's pretty sure they both know Nick's going to cave. Joe's going to get his little brother back.
Oh man, I'm sorry I'm replying ridiculously late to this, but it is SO AWESOME. I absolutely love Joe's little triumph at getting Nick to come back with him, it is just...short, but so sweet. :D
