Scalping of some sort is fairly common with eBay - the XBox 360 launch issues were caused to a large extent by people buying them to sell for auction, and the same thing happens with "hot" toys at christmas time.
The claim I've heard from several sources is that if the transaction dosen't use PayPal and they are notified, it'll be pulled. If not, it won't (profiteering from PayPal basically.)
There are also a growing number of people advertising tickets, etc on EBay before they get them, with no guarentee they WILL get them.
It's an absolute joke isn't it? I don't see why they can't just insist that you show your credit card at the doors or something. It drives me up the wall.
When I accidentally bought extra Morrissey tickets I sold them "Buy it now" at face value. It seemed only fair.
It certainly is Carys. I think you had to have your credit card or some form of ID for Glastonbury last year, and each person was only supposed to be able to buy 2 tickets. It would be good if they could put similar restrictions on other events with high demand, but the logistics of everyone showing their cards or ID when they hand over their tickets would be very tricky. :-/
