After spending a lot of time observing the "gay community" (a misnomer if there ever was one) I've finally come to the conclusion that gay guys basically fall into one of two categories

I think your division not only applies to the gay lifestyle but to many other types as well. Take the Jews, for instance. Some fit right into society and do not let their culture rule them whereas others only mingle with other Jews and only feel comfortable around other Jewish people. Works with blacks, christians... any group or lifestyle. And you're right, we'll never gain acceptance if we keep focusing on our differences. On the other hand, if we don't make ourselves recognizable, completely ignoring who we are for society's sake, then society will walk right over us. Things to consider.
You bring up such a fabulous point with that, and your sub-categories of gay culture. I have to explain it to everyone, how being gay is like living in a city, there are different sections of the city which classify almost "who you are" in the gay world, and although we don't put ourselves perhaps in these categories, we almost do act upon them, such as you might have the raver gay, then the femme gay, the butch "i'm not a fag" gay, the sex driven hoe, the prudent-and-proud-to-be-gay, and then so many other groups, and however yet, we are all so separate. We shun other groups, some hate some, some love all but one, or whatever. It's a crazy little world in itself, and we do segregate ourselves from the rest of society, our own clubs, magazines, pockets of cities to live, cafes, even our own stereotypical way to dress and everything, however I do enjoy partaking in this gay life, it is a way of comfort, but I see so much how it goes too far. I say so often, if blacks want to be integrated, and they got it, then why are they now

Your so right... why do people think if you don't say "I'M GAY!" 24/7 that makes you in denial?! I'm still in High School (Freshman) and I haven't come out yet for the most part... only to like one of my best friends. Most of my friends are straight though, not that I have a problem with that. I used to think "Oh no... I shouldn't of done that.. they'll think I'm gay now!" It's taken ALOT of strength to just act like myself now. But I think that I've mastered that for the most part lol I don't feel like I have to say I'm gay really... because it doesn't define me. I'm who I am, and that's it. If people can't handle that, then forget them. Well, thanks for letting me tell you my story lol Cya!
