First Wish - [Action]

[Anyone out in the forest today, closer to the western lake, will notice that a single clearing there has turned dead and desolate. The trees are all gnarled and dead, the earth is cracked and dry, and all that grows are weeds and dry grass. The forest clearing is also darker than usual. Though the trees around are dead, they're high, and knit ( Read more... )

[AND EVENTUALLY NORMA MAKES IT BACK TO THE HOUSE. I assume. Unless she was eaten on the way.

At some point during that, Fenimore will be getting back inside. She kind of regrets leaving the house at all, though at the time it seemed like a good idea. Presumably the living room was in a state of dungeons, but it's currently okay.

She sneaks in very carefully and peeking around, generally being a very fail ninja. But during this investigation, she stumbles across someone who she doesn't remember being in the house, but who seems very familiar. ...Wasn't she one of...?] ...Hello?

[Home. Home. Norma, after an eventful afternoon with a ditz and a demon, is sprawled out on the couch with a pillow over her face. She is not moving, nor is she going to move.

Ever.

And so help the first person that tries to make her move for any reason what so ever. She doesn't even care that this is definitely not the Quiet Lands, and nor is it Werites Beacon. It is home now. It has a couch, a bed. Though...the voice certainly catches her off guard. It was familiar, and a little surprising. Grudgingly, Norma removes the pillow from her face and stares at the newcomer, blinking twice.]

Whoa, Tulip! What are you doing here?

Tulip? [Oh, it was the girl who gave all the nicknames. She thinks she might even remember her name! ...Give her a second. It probably wasn't "Bubbles."

But in the meantime, she doesn't give the new nickname much thought, even if she really can't figure out where it would have come from.] I live here -- while I'm here, I mean. I guess you just arrived, huh?

And where exactly is here, anyway? And lemme guess, these things comes as a welcome gift, huh?

[Norma jabs a finger over her back at her wings. Even without a proper explanation of Luceti, she's smart enough to figure out this is not Werites Beacon or even the Legacy, maybe. And while asking Grune is out of the question, maybe Tulip could answer a few questions.

...Hopefully she'd answer them. Norma still remembers Fenimore's twin as being the unkind type. They've even had their squabbles in the past, too. Heated ones.]

How did you get this far without at least -- ? [...Grune.] Oh.

...It's kind of a long story. We're in Luceti...and you probably won't believe me, but it's a different world from back home.

[If the look Norma's giving Fenimore is any indication, she should tell the girl is both shocked and stunned, and definitely doubtful. That's one farfetched story, but the wings on her back are not only real, but permanent and good god did they hurt if you pulled on them. But okay, she'll play along with this.

At least until she wakes up. This dream is ridiculous.]

...Well, I guess a vacation'll do me good! And G-Girl and Red are here, too, huh? I guess that makes it better, but the wings are just plain annoying. Plus, dumping a frail and innocent maiden like me out in the slums with some bone monster is no way to welcome anyone! Some vacation this is, jeez. I'm complaining when we go back.

It's not exactly a vacation.... [Buuuut she'll save the worst parts for later. Or maybe even leave it for that Jay guy. For now, she's going to sink into a chair so that Norma won't have to look up so far. ...Not that she really did, since she's only grown a centimeter or two at most since she's been here, so even 5'2" requires generous rounding up.]

It's not usually this dangerous, though. There's...something going on, but it shouldn't last more than a week.

[Norma gives the Ferines girl a look. Was Tulip actually being helpful? To an Orerines? She goes back to what she said before - another world. Could that...really be possible? Yes. It could. Hadn't their journey taught them that? The people of the land, coming to another world. A world of water...

Even then, it's a bit hard to swallow. How was she taken? Norma remember not just a few hours ago she was in the Quiet Lands, saying goodbye to Spot. And wouldn't the others make sure she didn't get taken away? Speaking of, where were the others? Teach, Senny, JJ, C, and Shirl? She couldn't be here with just Grune, Moses, and Thyra!]

...What do you mean? That stupid bone warrior thing seemed plenty dangerous to me! [She huffs, looking at all the small nicks and cuts along her arms and legs.]

[...Geez, what's that look for? She gives a look right back. She knows this is pretty hard to accept, but come on. Maybe she should leave it for Moses or Jay to explain. But she's here now, so she'll give at least part of the lowdown.]

There aren't usually...stupid bone warrior things. I mean, it's not like it doesn't have its own dangers, but not like this. That's only been happening for the last couple of days. [She shakes her head.] A lot of the time, the weird things that happen here aren't like this.

[This is beginning to feel more and more like a lecture...which means this actually isn't a dream. Or a joke. Norma sits a little more upright, taking better care to actually listen more intently. If this Luceti place really did exist, and she was stuck here (because why else would she be taken without her knowing?), then she wanted to get familiarized with the ways this place worked.]

So...there aren't usually monsters or anything weird looming around or anything? [That seems so odd.] ...So...what are the weird things that do happen, then?

Um. [...How to describe this without sounding even more weird? Or making it sound too terrible, like with the drafts? There probably isn't something that satisfies both of those.] ...I spent a week looking like Shirley. And people act a little loopy sometimes.

[She shakes her head.] It can be almost anything. Things change for about a week every couple of months and then return back to...as normal as it ever gets. Someone wrote a guide about it.

Like Shirl? [Norma sits up, staring. Now that definitely sounded weird. Not just because there was no possible way that could ever happen, but the thought of someone like Thyra turning into Shirley, when she still disliked her so much, seemed scary.] And you didn't go completely bonkers? or try to drown everyone? ...Or maybe they didn't give you her powers because you'd go nuts with them.

[Norma gives Fenimore a nasty look, then lean back down, careful not to aggravate her stiff wings. Ugh, those things were such a nuisance!] Jeez...this place really does sound weird. And the only one I've got to rely on is G-Girl!

/breaks your timeline even further, whoops. sorry. xelhes August 8 2011, 04:58:48 UTC
[...Fenimore has absolutely no idea what you are talking about and it is pretty clear from her expression that she's either an amazing actor or has no idea what you are talking about. This shifts to a bit of a "what the hell are you on?" sort of deal, but she's eventually distracted by the second part.]

...If you mean Grune, she's not the only one here you'd know. Moses and Jay are here. And a couple of others, too, but no one else from your group.

Nah, it's fine. xD It's kinda to be expected now. lookinforlight August 9 2011, 17:57:55 UTC
[Once again, Norma is surprised by Fenimore's behavior. She was sure this beastly little ferines would snap and huff at her for a comment like that. This is getting stranger and stranger... it was almost like she was--no. No, there's no way that could happen. Or even be possible!

So instead, Norma perks up a little at the mention of Red and JJ, and can't help but be curious over the others. Even if they weren't in the party (she'll ask why not later), Norma's nosy personality gets the better of her.]

Really, like who?

[She would not appreciate knowing you think of her sister as beastly!!

She doesn't answer right away. She could go with the safe answer of Walter, because obviously Walter is still alive even if Norma was from the future, but...maybe she should get through the hard part first.]

...You're really not going to believe me when I tell you. It'd be better if one of your friends was here to explain it for me. But....

[She hesitates and discards the long explaination she was about to launch into. Probably that Luceti guide would do better for that. She'll try the blunt method.]

Stella lives here.

[And instantly, Norma's brows shoot right up. She's first astounded that Tulip even knows who Stella is, but even moreso that...that Stella lives here! There's not way! Norma saw Stella die with her own eyes! She can't be here, and she can't possibly be alive, either! Norma sits up, leaning forward with a somber and slightly confused expression. This...this is a joke, right?]

Stella? As in...Senny's Sweetie? But she died a long, long time ago! I saw it myself! [Norma frowns.] If you're trying to pull my leg or something, Tulip, don't do it with something like that! The dead can't come back to life!

[No, they couldn't. Even wishing for something like that would be selfish. That's why...that's why she didn't waste her wish. Sven would hate her for it if she did.]
