Prompt 5: Ten Things I Learned as a Child

Aug 09, 2007 12:16

Well, I still am a child, really, but I can still say ten things I've learned so far.

1. That if you want to say something to somebody, you'd better do it soon, because later you might not have the chance.

2. How to make Hamburger Helper (especially Lasagna, which is the best flavor).

3. That because of the way its body is built, a bumblebee shouldn't really be able to fly, but it does anyway because no one's told it yet that it can't.

4. How to say the numbers one to ten in Spanish, French, and German.

5. That sometimes people say one thing and mean another, and if you don't realize that they're doing this, you can get into really big trouble.

6. That if a kid is only just-turned-seven, she can't be blamed for anything that might happen to her father. Sometimes I'm not sure if I believe this one, though.

7. All the words to "Somewhere Along the Line" by Billy Joel.

8. That reading is more interesting than math, but this does not mean that you can read a book under your desk during math class.

9. That no matter where you go to school, some of the big kids will always be mean to some of the little kids. Especially if the big kids are fifth graders, and especially if the little kids are in that special class for people who don't speak English.

10. That 'No trespassing' means 'if you ignore this sign and walk right past it into our woods, we will call your aunt and tell on you because we know who you are because your aunt goes to our church'.
