What to do in a time of crisis? Turn to wholesome makeycrafty diversions, natch. When your father appears to be dying on the other side of the planet, when your career has foundered on the rocks of impossibility, when your (kink) relationship goes belly-up, when you're so sleep-deprived your hands shake, then out with the scissors and away with ( Read more... )

Oh dear, life sounds pretty horrid. I agree that making things is the way to go, but I can never do it when I'm in that kind of space. The last time I tried I manage to butcher a kimono pattern to the extent that there was not a piece of silk large enough to be salvagable. I take refuge in children's books when it just get too hard. I hope things improve soon - sleep will probably make it easier to deal with, but then I haven't been to bed yet so what would I know?

I'll be thinking of you, and hoping the best for the rubber and tulle and, of course, all the big stuff too.

Thankyou for the thoughts - I do appreciate them a lot.

I find the making of things really soothing. I'm not saying I make things well. I started with a piece of latex 1.75m, and now what's left would make a large handkerchief (shuddering thought, rubber hankies). My house is now strewn with red rubber bow prototypes in search of a function.

Speaking of kimonos, a friend brought me back from Japan a wedding kimono from the 20s. I took possession last night. It's officially love...

Hope you and your bed have become re-acquainted by now.

sounds better than sitting down with bottle of malt whisky to solve your problems

think you need to stop thinking for a while and just enjoy the world about you, the universe has bigger issues than yours that should really start worrying if you need to be concerned about something.

pictures if skirt being worn to party now required to be posted

Well, I don't think the end of 8 year relationships and approaching death of a parent are trifles, but I think I get the gist...

I *would* post a picture if I only knew how. Do you have a tutorial up your sleeve?

The Boss has instructed that I give you some info about how to post pics (I won't mention anything about why he isn't doing himself because that may lead some people to speculate that he can't so it himself...hehehe)

Ummm....basically there are two ways of posting a pic. If you have a paid account or a beta account that shows ads, you can put them in your lj scrapbook (this shows up on a tab from the 'home' page.) If, like me, you have a free account, your only option is to post them on an external site like flickr or facebook and embed them in your post.

So that's the first thing that we need to figure out, then we can go from there.

Hello there Ms Subtle. Thank you for coming. You arrived rather like a fairy in a poof of know-how! Good job too because this posting pictures business already has that rather ominous ring of difficulty. No matter - I've always wanted to be able to post pictures on my LJ. I, like you, have a free account. Do I need to toddle off and get myself one at flickr? Not sure what flickr is, but they probably have accounts.
