[The video function clicks on, and it shows a rather confused looking Odd Thomas sitting on one of the pews in St. Patrick’s Cathedral. He looks visibly awkward and uncomfortable about this at first, especially since he hasn’t messed around with the video option in these systems much before. He sits there, rubbing the back of his neck a moment before realizing that it’s already been turned on. A hint of surprise flashes in his eyes before he sits back and speaks.]
Right. Uh. To anyone who stopped by at the cathedral these past few days... I realize that there’ve been a lot who have been coming here for the meetings and such. And I appreciate it, I really do. First thing is that I would like to thank a lot of you for helping us out, both at Central Park, as well as our current endeavors. Together, we’ll get through this. I know we will. To the group still stuck on Roosevelt Island... I’m not sure if you can see this, or hear me, but please hang in there.
That said, I’d like to mention something else...
[Here’s where he starts to feel even more strange. From right next to him he pulls a tacky looking statue with horns and a strange, golden sheen to it. It looks like this:
Regardless of its tackiness, the statue has been nicely crafted, although it does have something of an ominous aura about it. You can’t see Odd’s face fully right then, but just holding it makes him feel more and more uncomfortable.]
I think someone must’ve left this in the nave at some point. Maybe around... Mondayish? It was placed at the altar and I don’t remember it ever being there before. So I assume that someone from one of our meetings had forgotten it, for whatever reason. It doesn’t even look like something that you should be carrying around, in any case.
I’m not sure if I should keep it. I mean, if it’s some kind of a gift from someone, or for someone, then I guess that’s okay. But if it belongs to anyone else, and they’re willing to claim it... I don’t know. Just. If it. If it belongs to you, let me know. Okay?
Thanks.
[At that, the video feed clicks off.]
