Our gas supply isn’t working, if that was ever much of an issue here (cathedrals aren’t that warm to begin with). I’ve already hunted down some base heaters to put in some of our rooms.

So far I have one in each of the kids’ rooms, but I’ll keep looking for more so we all have one. Until then, there are other ways to keep warm. I’m not entirely against burning the church pews, but I’m not sure how productive that’ll be in the long run. We still have electricity, so electrical heating is the best route from this standpoint.

There’re plenty of water bottles in the kitchen. Having grown up in the desert has taught me to be more or less sparse with water; just keep yourselves hydrated. I’ve also set out some buckets on the roof to catch water from the rain and snow. That way we can always melt it later in case this becomes a long-term thing.

I’m going to be heading out frequently to bring back more base heaters if I can find them. And blankets. Looks like we’re definitely going to need more blankets. It’s a good thing we had stocked up on rations for the winter weeks ago. Talk about preparing for the worst.

Everyone just find ways to stay warm. Try not to go out for too long, and if you get lost then find some shelter. There are some places that are heated electrically; who knows how long that’s going to last.
