"Retroactive" Playlist

Sometimes, I like to listen to a piece of music to inspire my writing, getting my head in the right sense of tone and feeling. Unlike most people who use this method, though, I don't like using songs for this, I prefer something without words so that the music itself is what I'm listening to. That's cool how you use mood music to inspire you. I tend to make themed playlist to listen too when I am transferring my fanfic from notebook to computer while I type to keep from getting bored. I also wrote most of my first original novel with the instrumental piano versions from TF: The Movie on Vince DiCola's "Artistic Transformations" album playing in the background. The whole CD is nearly an hour long so it was easy to time my writing sessions.

Huh, you write your fanfic by hand and then transfer it? That's how I used to do my writing for school, and the transcribing process was actually where I did my first round of edits to produce a second draft, but for my fanfic I do the first draft straight on the keyboard (either laptop or iPad). I'm afraid I won't be able to write fast enough to keep up with my thoughts, versus the quicker typing.

I have the Botcon complete TF:TM score CD, but not the Artistic Transformations CD. (I was a poor college student when they were available.) Sounds like it would be pretty cool, though.

I use notebooks for the exact opposite reason. I write faster than I type. :-)

Artistic Transformations is probably pretty rare these days. Dunno if you can hear some on youtube.
