Day 1 - Introduce yourself
Yes, my real name is Lawrence Chu. You can look me up by either this or my assumed alias; while I never really kept them separate, they converge more every day. It wouldn't take much to make the association. I have one living brother who is younger than me, and one brother who was killed in a car accident ten years and four days ago (give or take a few hours) who was older than me.
Oh, hey, look, Day 11 is siblings.
While my life hasn't gone the way I planned it, I can hardly complain about the conditions in which I've lived, particularly since, family tragedy aside, I can't say I haven't had it easy. Maybe it's been too sheltered a life, but aren't most parents hoping that their children never grow up wanting for anything?
I mean, look at me. Raised in upper-middle-class suburban New Jersey, moved to Switzerland. In '88-89, I lived in Louisiana for a year, which may have been indirectly responsible for the move to Switzerland. How awesome a life is that? Did you realize living in New Jersey could actually be a positive and nurturing experience?
If you've never read my journal before (which, considering how little I post to it nowadays, two months two days short of ten years since I made my first post), you'll notice how much more I've been focused on things like video games and movies as of late. My world tends to be inhabited by consumer culture at the moment, and working at a bank and singing in multiple (mostly gospel) choirs leaves me kinda tired at the end of the day.
