His Lorship hasn't really seen fit to call me much recently. I've been busy trying to hold the Ministry together so that there actually is something left when this is all over because otherwise what's the point. He is making pureblood wizards into squibs? I knew it could be done. I should have persevered with my studies for Alessandra. It does not make sense. This is a punishment?
Also, last time I return to Britain, there were many inferi in the sea. It is possible this is connected?

He seems to be. I haven't the opportunity to talk to the prisoners or their guards to find out exactly what is going on, but the rumours are... Rather more than punishment, though his loyal deatheaters are living in terror that they should be selected for this experiment; there is more to it than that, some darker purpose.

There may be a connection. I could ask more questions. Discreetly.

I'm depressingly certain that this newest proof of His disregard for even those allied to His way of thinking hasn't resulted in a rash of desertions.

Of the captives in the Hospital Wing, then, the two not changed by the cauldron - they are natural Pureblood Squibs?
