You’d think firebending would be difficult for Korra, like how Aang had trouble with earthbending. But we see her doing it with absolute ease. To me that speaks volumes about her as a person. When it came down to it, Aang would normally resort to airbending (unless he was in the avatar state). Here we see Korra embracing what is supposed to be the most difficult element for her to bend. Her fiery personality is so strong that it overpowers the “natural order” that we know.
Fire is an element of power. That explains why Korra uses it so often. She likes the power she has as the avatar- she takes it very seriously, but she enjoys it. And I think that’ll make her interactions with the Equalists very interesting. She’s never thought that her strength was unfair, she thought it was hers to embrace and use.

I agree! The more I think about it, the more I love the fact that she’s a Waterbender who Firebends almost constantly, and I cannot articulate why any more clearly than the fact that I get this vibe from her when she’s doing it;

“Why? Because fuck you, that’s why.”

ALL OF THIS. (emphasis mine)
I really can’t wait for them to explain this.

http://blogs.wsj.com/speakeasy/2010/07/21/legend-of-korra-the-creators-of-avatar-the-last-airbender-on-the-new-spinoff/ By Christopher John Farley

The creators of “Avatar: The Last Airbender” say that the new spinoff series “The Legend of Korra” will be more mature than the original show, but will still have the same sense of fun and adventure.

Nickelodeon, the network behind the original show, today announced that it will air the “Avatar” spinoff series “The Legend of Korra” (a working title) starting next year.

The first series took place in a world in which supernatural “benders” have the ability to manipulate the elements of air, earth, fire and water, and focused on Aang, a young airbender who turned out to be the Avatar, a person capable of controlling all the elements. The new series takes place 70 years later in the same world and follows the new Avatar, a teen girl named Korra who has learned to bend earth, water and fire and seeks to master air under the tutelage of Aang’s son, Tenzin.

Earlier this summer, director M. Night Shyamalan released a live-action theatrical version of the first series called “The Last Airbender” that was poorly received by critics, although it posted respectable numbers in early box office returns.

Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, the creators of “Avatar: The Last Airbender” and “The Legend of Korra” took the time to talk to Speakeasy today about the new series.

The Wall Street Journal: How did you come up with the idea for the spinoff?

Bryan Konietzko: When Mike and I first created “Avatar: The Last Airbender” we always knew it would have an ending to it, that particular story. But as the show really took off, and found an audience all over the world, we knew that despite our intentions of ending that story there would probably be a time when Nickelodeon would come calling and want some more episodes….When that time came we had this idea for jumping ahead and telling a story about the next Avatar, this girl Korra.

TWSJ: If there’s a new Avatar, that means Aang has passed on. If he died around age 70, isn’t that pretty young for an Avatar?

Konietzko: You gotta keep in mind that he was frozen in a state of suspended animation for 100 years, so he kind of burned up some of his extra Avatar time.

TWSJ: The new “Avatar” is a woman. What inspired you to change the sex of the protagonist of the series?

Michael DiMartino: It’s not so much about changing because we had Avatar Kyoshi before Aang. We’d established that the Avatar can be male or female and we just thought let’s explore one of those more in depth, because Kyoshi was a popular character with a lot of fans and it seemed like a great opportunity to not retread what we’d done with Aang, who was a great hero, we all loved him, but we really wanted to try something different. And we have so many great female fans out there, who really responded to Katara in the first series, we thought we have the fan base who are really going to enjoy seeing the Avatar be a female.

Konietzko: Mike and I, we love those characters too, and we’ve encountered countless fans who are male who really like those characters too. We just don’t subscribe to the conventional wisdom that you can’t have an action series led by a female character. It’s kinda nonsense to us.

TWSJ: The one image that you released is Korra looking out on Republic City, where a lot of the new show take place. Tell me about that city.

Konietzko: That’s kind of a piece of concept art so when the show premieres next year it won’t look exactly like that but that’s the direction we’re headed. The first series was sort of a road show where every episode they were going to some new location. That was another new thing we wanted to do is root it in one big complex location but mainly one place. We were drawing inspiration from Shanghai in the 1920s and 30s and Hong Kong and even Western cities like Manhattan and even location-wise cities like Vancouver, a city that juts out on a peninsula or an island and has these big mountains around it.

TWSJ: Will we see characters from the previous series pop up?

DiMartino: I don’t want to give anything away, but rest assured there’s a definite link between the old series and this one.

TWSJ: Republic City is a city plagued by crime. There’s an anti-bender revolt. Does this new series deal with more mature themes?

Konietzko: Mike and I like a balance of tones. We never set out to make an overtly silly show or an overly serious dramatic show. We like dealing with all those things. It’s fair to say we’re dealing with some sophisticated things and the show is growing up a bit. But that said, we’re not in a calculated way trying to target another demographic. Even in the first series, it was about a world war and some pretty serious issues.

TWSJ: If Tenzin is Aang’s son, who is his mother?

DiMartino: [To Konietzko] We can say that, right? [To Speakeasy] It’s Katara. It’s not a huge surprise.

TWSJ: What did you guys think of the live-action version of “The Last Airbender”?

Konietzko: We’re just really focused on this new show right now, and kind of taking this off in its own direction and not concerning ourselves with that right now.

TWSJ: So you didn’t follow the casting controversy about the movie version of “The Last Airbender”?

Konietzko: We didn’t head up that film. We’re just happy to be back generating the original content in this mythology, which is what we do.

TWSJ: Would you like to bring a cartoon version of “Avatar: The Last Airbender” to the big screen?

Konietzko: We would love to. I think Mike and I would absolutely love to do feature animation. Either another story, or it if worked out, one in the “Avatar” world. We would be really excited.

Fandom: Avatar: The Legend of Korra
Title: A Guiding Wind
Summary: Korra is delayed in airbending training.
Word Count: 247
Rating: K

Who's overly thrilled? Not me, nope.

Korra grits her teeth and replicates the form again: wrists bent, arms up, left leg forward, keep your elbows wide and…

Sifu Tenzin shakes his head. "Your sweep was terrible. What are you, beating a rug? Do it again, lighter this time."

After three hundred sets of hotsquats, Korra had thought she could manage anything airbending could throw at her. But airbending, with its ridiculous unbalanced stances, rapid shifting, and fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants philosophy, was practically laughing in her face.

After her blast barely ruffles his hair, Sifu Tenzin sighs.

"You could've had this mastered by lunch, if you hadn't been late for training this morning."

"Well I'm sorry," Korra snaps, digging her right foot into the ground. "It's not like I decided, 'Oh hey, why don't I enter the Spirit World this morning?' And your dad would talk for hours if I let him."

Sifu Tenzin pauses. "What does he say?"

Korra lowers her arms and shrugs. "Avatar stuff, I dunno. He says it's important that I honor the balance of the world. Not just peace, but balance between construction and nature, and balance between your mind and your heart. That kind of stuff."

"Hmm." Sifu Tenzin doesn't look at her, but somewhere over her right shoulder.

"And he's always telling me to balance training with relaxation. He keeps saying I need to take a break and go ride hopping llamas more often, or something."

The tiniest hint of a smile appears on Sifu Tenzin's face.

"Again," he barks.

Korra takes a deep breath, and lifts her arms.

Oh man, spirit world sessions with Aang, him telling her to go ride hopping llamas is perfection. <3 And I love how you captured that interesting dynamic between Tenzin and Korra because yes he's her teacher, but she's also the only one who still has a real link to his dad and that gives him pause and ah! cryinnnnnnnng. LOOK AT THIS DUCK-PUPPY!!! he’s so blown away, being in the presence of THE AVATAR. THE AVATAR! aka KORRAAAAAA. and omg, her pose here, how confident and serene and frankly cheerful she looks, like, she isn’t smirking or scowling, just kind of grinning, because yeah, she is the avatar, and she’s totally and completely not just at peace with being the avatar, but proud of it, comfortable in it. and something i’m loving about korra is how, from everything we’ve seen of her, in many ways her personality is coded in ways that are traditionally masculine (proud, aggressive, independent???) whereas aang was coded in ways that are traditionally feminine, e.g. he’s empathic, humble, struggles with balancing his needs with the needs of others (which he often prioritizes above his own needs), etc. which is so exciting!!!!!

anyway the point is BOLIN IS A CUTIE BABY AND I WANT TO RUFFLE HIS HAIR AND PINCH HIS CHEEKS AND MAKE HIM COOKIES AND CALL HIM RUDE NAMES AND BOSS HIM AROUND AND HUG HIM CLOSE. my big sister instincts are going haywire!!!

http://sylphofspace.tumblr.com/post/8003260277/i-believe-korra-can-save-the-world
I believe Korra can save the world.

I’ve given up on trying to backread my entire dash because of my brilliant idea to be out socializing when Korra panel shenanigans were going down (I watched the trailer on my phone in a car in a parking lot, holding it up so the people in the backseat could see). I have a lot of feelings!! Ugh, Avatar, first and forever, the story that lives in the deepest part of my heart. Avatar, the wonderful show that gave me so many things, so many of the very best things in my life, my favorite people and creations and experiences. The show of my soul. And there’s going to be MORE! How do I even deal with this?

The thing that tipped me over to truly not being able to deal was the shot of Korra, head resting in her crossed arms, eyes slowly turning from concern to resolve. How much do we learn about her just from that one short shot? She is a lady I want to know so badly, a forever girl I haven’t even heard speak yet.

AND I HAVE MANY FEELINGS ALSO ABOUT CITIES AND WORLDBUILDING AND ARMORED BEARS AND REVOLUTION AND VILLAINS IN MASKS AND RAPIDLY CHANGING SOCIETIES AND FRIENDSHIP AND I JUST CAN’T EVEN

I CAN’T BELIEVE THIS IS HAPPENING. I CAN’T BELIEVE I GET TO EXPERIENCE THIS SHOW SURROUNDED BY AN AWESOME MINI-FANDOM MADE UP OF ONLY PEOPLE I ADORE AS OPPOSED TO FLOATING AROUND IN RELATIVE ISOLATION WITH NOBODY TO TALK TO ABOUT ALL OF THESE EMOTIONS! WHAT DO I NORMALLY DO WITH MY BRAIN/HANDS/LIFE???

If Korra absolutely HAS to be shipped with one of her bros, I want it to be Bolin. Because Bolin looks like a DWEEB and I like it when awesome badass girls are shipped with totally dweeby (but adorable) guys.
He seems like he’s a huge Korra fanboy (given his one line in the teaser trailer). Also it would piss off all the fans who want to ship her with Mako just because he’s “the hot one” and looks like an unscarred Zuko.

Bolin reading a book entitled “How To Be A Man”. WITH A PICTURE OF AANG ON THE FRONT.

he’s definitely going to be my favorite dude, if you guys thought anything different i don’t think you know me very well

lol right like … i can already see where this is going. might as well stop pretending my heart hasn’t pitched its tent squarely over bolin.

Better: How To Be A Man is the title, so the picture of Aang is on the back. Implying Aang is the author. My bet is that Toph got Suki to co-write it and publish it under Aang’s name. Advice includes How To Cheat Your Friends At Dice, Filthy Jokes For Family Events, Pick-Up Lines For Guys With No Game, and more. It’s a bestseller book that’s gotten aspiring manly men punched out across all four nations and Aang has never successfully lived it down.

oh god, at the panel they said that they imagined the book was written by aang, so

basically what I’m trying to say here is that this is definitely a joke toph came up with and aaaaah yes

Aang dreads speeches and Q&A sessions in new areas. There’s always one fucking guy (you can pick them out by their desperate failure to look effortlessly cool) who pipes up all HEY I BOUGHT YOUR BOOK AND NOW EVERYONE’S ALL MAD AT ME

and Aang just siiiiiiighs

1. WHY IS AANG ON THE COVER OF THAT BOOK, WHY DOES HE LOOK DISTRESSED. DID HE WRITE IT? DID SOMEONE ELSE WRITE IT AND USE HIM AS AN EXAMPLE OF WHAT (NOT) TO BE? DID SOKKA WRITE THIS AS A PRANK.
2. IT IS A BOOK A BOOK AND NOT A SCROLL!! I MAY BE MISREMEMBERING THINGS BUT I DON’T REMEMBER ANY BOUND BOOKS IN A:TLA AND NOW THERE’S A SELF-HELP BOOK AND DOES THAT MEAN THERE ARE PUBLISHERS AND PRINTING PRESSES AND AUDIENCES FOR THIS KIND OF THING I WANT THE HISTORY OF PUBLISHING IN THE AVATAR WORLD!!!!!
3. RELATED TO THE ABOVE: I THOUGHT OF PRINTING PRESSES AND THEN I THOUGHT OF SOMETHING ELSE, AND I WAS ACTUALLY PARALYZED FOR A MOMENT BY THE THOUGHT OF WHAT GRAPHIC DESIGN COULD BE IN A WORLD LIKE THE WORLD OF AVATAR OH MY GODDDDDD WHEN THIS SHOW COMES OUT I NEED TO DO FAKE POSTERS IN THEIR STYLES OH MY GOD
4. that book looks like it reads right-to-left and that delights me for some reason :> (no no note ‘some reason’ i know why it delights me but it is a bad reason)
5. BOLIN YOUR FACE I CANNOT DEAL

Tenzin’s daughter, Jinora

Tezin and Pema’s eldest daughter.
She was said to be shy and quiet.

Ok so I don’t want to play favorites with these kids because we haven’t even met them yet but uh.

I THINK JINORA MIGHT ALREADY BE MY FAVORITE???
LOOK AT HER. The quiet stare. The straight-backed but somewhat lax stance. The way she folds her hands behind her back and probably fidgets oh my heart. Also I just really love her hair? Like, from a character design standpoint her hair is everything I have ever wanted and will ever love. ASYMMETRICAL PART AND BUN, SNUGLY COVERING HER EARS, COMES AROUND TO THE FRONT OF HER FACE I JUST
i feel faint

Can I just say how fucking excited I am there is going to be a shy and bookish Avatar lady? I completely adore every pre-existing lady exactly the way they are, but I’ve always felt the lack of that particular personality type. IT WILL BE GREAT TO MEET HER.

oh my gosh i completely agree with you. i just. if she’s a bookworm does that mean she’ll be really into reading all there is to know on airbending culture and forms and history and would really admire her grandfather ((AND grandmother))? and would want to be as amazing a person as all of the former Team Avatar was?

And you know she probably tries really hard to help her Mom (Pema) herd the lil’ ones and help her Dad (Tenzin) teach anyone and everyone that comes to the Airbender Sanctuary because the two younger ones are just SUCH A HANDFUL and Mom and Dad need the extra hands. And Pema appreciates that her eldest can fly to catch the other two when they won’t listen so she can mete out Mommy Justice. And then Korra shows up and everything asplodes in some fashion.

This had all better happen or I will be just
INCOMPLETE

I think it’s cute how Tenzin’s kids vaguely resemble Toph, Aang, and Ty Lee. But man, if Tenzin is a great dad as well as an awesome teacher, I’ll just die! I will never get tired of good fictional dads versus the multitude of shitty ones.
(Please don’t let Tenzin be a shitty dad! I’ll be heartbroken!!)

Nah! I think Tenzin usually looks like he’s really happy with being a father with the previews we’ve been given. One had him airbending his kid in the air. Which was cute. Also they mention that he’s very serious and quick to lose temper; but he does become comical and goofy with his kids.

Also high five Inkstone fer being pro good-daddies.

Avatar Shipping Wank: It must be Wednesday
Recently, the creators of Avatar: the Last Airbender announced a new series that's coming in 2011, titled Avatar: Legend of Korra. Normally this would be cause for joy and celebration, considering how many people enjoyed Avatar's first run, but wait! Ships from the first series are confirmed to have lasted? And they're not the ones I like?

Note: there are mild SPOILERS for Avatar: Legend of Korra here.

The new Avatar is a Water Tribe woman named Korra, who will learn Airbending from Aang's son, Tenzin. [info]yukinoonomi dooms the fandom when she says, "I thought the shipping wars were basically done with the finale. Maybe I'm just being naive." We then get a bit of a wank preview as people in Avatar Fans have a polite disagreement over whether there will be shipping wank or not.

Wank starts in earnest with [info]dietotaku's lovely comment, "Goddammit. They had to bring babies into this, didn't they. I am not watching this shit if I have to look at a bunch of Kataang flashbacks."

Things stay fairly quiet, however, until someone posts an interview with the creators where they confirm that Katara is, in fact, Tenzin's mother. They also add that they started up a very different sort of narrative so they could change things up.

[info]dietotaku is back, saying, "They don't want to retread familiar paths but they'll retread familiar ships? Yaaaay."

[info]myrasis adds, "Bracing for the smug Kataang shippers...Oh no they're already here nvm."

Various people reply to this, ranging from, "You're right! How dare they shove the canon ships in our faces!" to "How is confirming that a couple form the original series had children 'retreading original ships?'"

I expect this will be ongoing as more details about the new series emerge.

(I would just like to add that I am SO EXCITED that there will be more Avatar universe stuff, personally. I could not care less about shipping right now, when we are getting a female Avatar.)

ETA: There is now a great comic about the shipwars. (And the original threads are frozen.)

Well, I imagine they were amateurs at first, and only became pros later on. Or maybe that's why she's complaing; they couldn't become pros without making sweet, sweet Zuko-free love every night. Why, Tenzin probably has dozens of siblings.

And on an unrelated note, your icon is just fantastic.

I can't help feeling Aang would consider it his duty to have dozens of kids, what with being the last airbender and all. Of course that doesn't mean that that's where this cartoon is going with it.

Oh, poor Tenzin must have such angst. "You don't really love me! You only had me because Ninezin wasn't an airbender, and you needed someone to continue the family line! I'm just a way for you to live on! Well, the joke's on you, Dad, because I'm gay for [whatever they named Sokka and Suki's son]! The line dies with me!"

And then there would be maniacal laughter followed by tragic, tragic weeping.

I kind of hope Tenzin is the grumpy older brother to tons of kids.

Now that I think about it, though... if he's as old as everyone figures he'll be, does Tenzin have any children of his own? I mean, sure, the pressure's not as bad for him as it is for Aang but wouldn't he also have a "duty" to make a zillionty 'lil Airbenders?

Oh, no. Horrible thought. What if Tenzin was a father but lost his children, like Iroh? D:

[info]arekuru
2010-07-23 03:21 pm UTC (link)
Oh, I'm sure Tenzin has a harem he must keep satisfied every night, or else Steampunk City stops subsidizing all his bills. It's a trial, really, but he gets an extra three silver pieces for every fifth kid and all that imported tea from the Fire Nation doesn't come cheap. His life is hard. :(

Well, I don't know if "escape" is quite the right word when you phrase it that way...

Well, Uncle Zuko didn't have any milk on hand when he was playing babysitter, and by the tenth kid you're kind of just like "screw it."

Hey, now. Tenzin may be a debauched old man (or just an older man), but he's not that kind of debauched old man. That would be Sixzin.

That explains a lot. Besides, someone had to teach the kid all about the wonders of tea (yes, I like to imagine Zuko turns into a teasnob).

Sixzin is such a lech, his name should be Sexzin, amirite folks? But seriously, about the high crime rate...

Even Mai thinks he's unreasonable about it, but she can't help but admit he brews a fine, fine cup. And who doesn't like a man who brews tea just for you with flames he kindled from his own fingers? ...This may be why their kids all prefer coffee and Zuko had to start brainwashing his honorary nephews.

One of Korra and Tenzin's first "cases" is getting Sex, er, Sixzin for locked up being a creeper and also maybe killing people or something. It is very tragic.

Yes, all of Zuko's children rebelled by drinking coffee. He cries to Mai about it, sometimes, during their daily teatime. ...and Tenzin will forever lament that he can't use firebending to a) make tea and b) woo the ladies (with tea). DAMN YOU AIRBENDING WHY SO USELESS.

Tenzin didn't want to believe it, but during that big climactic moment when he had to choose between his new student and his brother's pleas for family loyalty, and he says that line about how the choice couldn't be more obvious as he casually takes Korra's side and Sixzin's face falls like he can't believe he would go against his own brother, no matter what he'd done? That was the episode where I decided yeah, this series is gonna be alright.

This is why whenever Korra makes Tenzin tea just the way he had it when he was a kid, tears come to his eyes. She thinks he's just being weird and old, but little does she know how much simple pleasure he gets from every perfectly brewed cup.

For me, it was when Korra confronted Tenzin afterwards, unable to understand why he'd side with a bending freak like her over his own family. (The Southern Water Tribe has become very anti-bender after what happened with Azula the Mad, which even Avatar Aang couldn't save them from.) Then Tenzin very calmly explains that in these crazy crime-ridden Steampunk times, they're all each other has. They are family now. I kind of forget what happened after that because I had to go find some tissues.

Tenzin also show his gratitude by... spending the rest of the day hiding from her, trying to avoid training, so he can enjoy his Pai Sho and perfect tea. Korra is not pleased.

And then he asked her for a cup of tea, and she had to fumble a bit before she could get the kettle settled... Yeah, I lost it too. Did you watch that bit after the credits? I swear, Sokka and his sky bison farm never gets old.

The ironic thing is, he's not actually very good at the game, and the one time he played with Korra she wiped the floor with him. Now Tenzin refuses to play with her on the grounds that he has to maintain the illusion of the teacher-student relationship somehow.

Oh, the sky bisons. Although it was kind of a surprise to learn Appa was really a girl, I was too happy to care! Baby bison! Can't forget Sokka feeding Momo Jr. either.

Don't be silly. Tenzin just let Korra win. Repeatedly. And huffed off to drink tea in order to, er, convince her that she "really" won.

I know, who'd have thought the gestation period for a sky bison was so long? No wonder they almost died out! Poor planning on the part of evolution there.

The problem with Momo Jr. is he's always making off with the display goods for Sokka's other-other side business (he has many) in Hair Loopie Clipz (patent pending). Suki's had to start locking up the cases.

Of course, he's still the penguin-sledding record holder for farthest distance in three different Northern tribes and two in the South, but he just can't be content with that.

Seriously, evolution, speed it up! Sky Bison are too adorable to go extinct, okay. Oh oh oh and how hilarious was Tenzin's epic grumpyface when Appa licked him? I didn't cry when Korra and Appa went out for one last ride, though. I just got something in my eyes... gosh, seems like I'm getting something in them again just thinking about it.

Not to mention the way Momo keeps trying to steal all the supplies of Sokka's ostrichturkey jerky (it'll SokYa!).

He also holds the record for Longest Unagi Ride. It was the proudest day of Aang's life... but it's just not enough! What good is he as a teacher if he can't even best his student in Pai Sho?

EPIC. Tenzin just can't win. And I know! Korra was so against Appa at first, saying she didn't want to do everything just because Aang did it, but...

"It'll SokYa!" totally cracks me up each and every time Sokka says it XD (and even more when he coaxes Suki into it). The man's a marketing genius. I'm so glad he got to do well - or as well as the show would allow Sokka, anyway. That breather episode they did with the papparazi taking pictures of him riding a sky bison on his way from the Earth Kingdom farm to his air-balloon product plant in the Fire Nation was hilarious. Oh, the conflict-of-interest scandal!

Aang really did love all his kids, didn't he? (Well, maaaybe not Sixzin.) It's just his repuation got in the way of them seeing that sometimes...

I know. And that final shot of Aang and Appa having epic adventures in the Spirit World -- it broke my heart in a happy way.

Suki's deadpan "It'll SokYa!" killed me. XD It was so great to see him have a little success (and I knew he'd be involved in the founding of Republic City, I just knew it). I think the best part was when Sokka sent Metal Queen Toph to do the "negations" between his squabbling businesses, though.

Aw, Aang even loved Sixzin, but he wasn't like he could just let his son go around being a murderous creeper. You know? But yeah, being the child of the Avatar is tough... don't know why anyone was surprised Tenzin said fuck it to the whole thing (except for being Airbender breeding stock, of course, because who would turn that chance down).

I loved the final shot, but the montage right before it? With all the clips of all their time together, from their meeting at the temple to Aang crying his heart out in Ba Sing Sei? If there is one thing in this world that I love, it is montages, and that was one of the best.

Suki's always been awesome, but she just got even better as she aged. She and Sokka are so perfect together. Did you catch the poster in the background of... I think it was episode 14? When they're at the market investigating the Cabbage Bandits? Anyway, Suki was totally modeling the Hair Loopies! She looked so cute, too, and she had to have been pushing 50 in that portrait. (Toph presumably refused that side of the business in favor of more "negotiations.")

That flashback to the whole family gathered together at Winter Solistice was kind of uncomfortable, wasn't it? Aang just wanting everyone to be happy, Sixzin hitting on his niece until Ninezin noticed and placed him as far away from Sokka's family as possible, Tenzin trying to see how early he can leave, and Katara finally losing it and bending the contents of the punch bowl onto the reporter outside.

That may have been one of the best montages in the series. The one of the Gaang slowly putting their lives back together after... you know... was a close second. I knew that episode was going to be painful, but ouch. At least now we know why Aang died so young...

Anyway, onto happier things. Suki needs to wear Hair Loopies more often, she totally Sokks rocks 'em! And how awesome was it seeing Korra in Kyoshi getup? Love that she was a fangirl of the Kyoshi Warriors, too. (As for Toph, I think she's always up for some "negotiations" that just happen to involve Earthbending. Some things never change.)

I got secondhand embarrassment squick from, like, that entire episode. And regular squick from Sixzin. Still, Katara's punch-bending was fantastic. That is why you don't mess with moms! And, aw, Ninezin. He turned out to be a pretty nice guy after all. Shame about what happened to him.

[info]arekuru - Me too, but it's been a really fun day. :D Now how do we wrap up?
2010-07-24 02:22 am UTC (link)
But at least if he had to go out, that was the way to do it. Yeah, you're always gonna have the haters who can't stand to see character death (and I'm usually one of them - no I don't know anything about any "New Jedi Order" books, they must not exist...), but damn if he didn't go out with a bang. An Aang Bang.

It was awesome, but I cracked up at her first attempt at the makeup. XD I think even Sokka did better his first time... (And we all know how much practice he's had since then!)

Can't wait for the series finale next week! <3

I know someone had to be the sacrifical lamb that made everything dramatic, but - Ninezin. ::wibble::

You guys are hilarious. I'm trying not to wake everyone up from laughing. I kinda wish the show would go like this now.

And my brother will be soooo confused when I mention Sixzin and Ninezin.

great computer panic of 2011
