Not Comic Sans!

When I was whinging on about Comic Sans the other day, I neglected some research.  That oversight shall be corrected herewith.  I encourage you to watch this video.  Once you've done that, watch this video.  Trust me, it all comes together to support my original hypothesis that Comic Sans is unworthy.

complaining, amusing, video

Not to put a damper on the whole Comic Sans thing, but there is quite a bit of logic behind its use, at least for elementary school teachers. Comic is preferred because every letter, in both upper and lowercase, is most similar to how we teach the kids to form the letters. (no serifs, no weird g's with the double-loops or t's with semi-loops, etc.)

Personally, I'm in love with the Century Gothic font, and it still wasn't a bad choice using the logic above. So I rebelled and used it all the time while teaching.

I'm proud of you for rebelling. And I still resist Comic Sans because it just looks so juvenile, and I dislike being given a professional handout with some goofy font on it, just because it's "fun." Ugh. I'm just a snob, I guess.
