I've never actually seen Lost in Space, but your posts keep making me think I need to. (I mean, except for the part where I really don't need more things to obsess over. >_>)
Haha! The thing about LiS is that it is often terrible, but in a really appealing, self-aware way. Most episodes feel like the writers were literally dropping acid. And, being from the mid-60s, you can't get away from the WHITE MEN TO THE RESCUE bullshit. It's campy to a fault, but man, when it wants to send a message, explore the nature of existence/love/family, or tear your heart out, maaan. It delivers.
Never mind that the slashy relationship between my beloved Dr. Smith and the Robot is literally canon. The show goes to so much trouble to portray them as joined at the hip and obsessed with each other. They are an angry old married couple who bicker 24/7 but love each other more than anything. <3
