Two reasons December 2010 will reek of movie awesomeness

Yeah, I know the other offerings this year like Clash of the Titans, Iron Man 2, Daybreakers, Jonah Hex, Harry Potter, Kick Ass and Alice In Wonderland all look good but I had to post two trailers that just made me realize our 12th month will be no joke, though one of them is something old school geeks will have to travel to Japan for. Okay, I like your list but I am concerned about Jonah Hex. Not that I was a fan of the comic or anything, but it was a cool idea that had potential that never seemed to gel for me. I figured that if they were going to spend time making a film of him that they might spend a little effort in realizing that potential. I don't know why I thought that...it's never stopped them from making bad movies before. I think it's the "Blade" conundrum, where they take a comic hero no one really knows outside of the field and they retool him to be cool and appeal to a modern, non-comic audience. The conundrum, of course, is that Blade is the only character they've pulled this off with. So it was false hope to begin with, but what are you gonna do.

Anyhow, nothing about this makes me think that the film will be any good, starting with its director, who has no experience except with chidlren's films. So I'm concerned. It actually brings to mind another conundrum, the "No Cape, No Good" conundrum. You can probably guess what that looks like.

The nice thing about SCY being SCY is that it'll be treated like the culture classic it is. I think if it the same way at the Star Trek reboot. If you don't put a ton of effort into it the masses will revolt. I have high hopes. ^_^

The music in Tron Legacy reminds me of Mass Effect. Slightly 'future' but with a heavy synth sound. I like!

Well, it certainly LOOKS awesome, though the Japanese have a history of really bad animated-to-live-action adaptations. At least it has to be better than the live-action Gigantor.

Interestingly, The Princess & The Frog has been pulled from virtually every theater in my area already. Oh well, maybe I'll see it at a budget cinema in a month ( ... )
