A quick scan through my f-list reveals a lot of rather unhappy people right now, most of whom seem to have fairly coherent and understandable reasons for being unhappy. One in particular (who I spoke to last night) has an extremely good reason to be pissed off, and I'm actually quite impressed she hasn't

Very well put, Sir! There are lots of very good reasons to be upset at this time of year, and even if there isn't a big excuse, people can get miserable/moody/depressed whenever! It certainly doesn't help anyone to ostracise them for feeling bad. I hope your loved ones and friends soon start feeling better and that things improve for them, anyway.
