How would the 3rd grouse know that was the spot where the first one had been shot? He'd ducked into the bush. Then was looking the other way when the second was shot and then when he checks up on them, you'd already moved the bodies. It's not like you left a chalk outline for him to know that was a bad spot. You didn't use a grouse call which would have told them you were hunting in the area, so it was completely out of the blue.
I think it's unfair to label them stupid. It's really just a huge misunderstanding.
