Sympathies, yes, but don't blame the dog

How can the dogs be blamed?!

A recent tragedy occured wherein a 4 year old girl was mauled to death by her neighbours' six hunting dogs.

You might be angry. You might be thinking, "what kind of irresponsible asshole lets his six hunting dogs run loose and savage little four year old girls?"But facts of the case were, those 6 vicious, bloodthirsty ( Read more... )

No, the mother's going to get a flood of condolence and sympathy letters. She's a single mother who was looking after 3 children, so no one would be 'tasteless' enough to stigmatise her for her failure. In fact, no one will ever dare to say that she was a failure, because gawd only knows she let a 4 year old girl walk out of the front door as she pleases, in this day and age where we don't even know if the man next door could be a closet pedophile.

What's so damn hard about parenting?!

... Harder than it looks. @_@ I practically run our household some days, when we get no-maid days.

._. The poor dogs. They're going to be killed for doing what they were bred to do.

They were HUNTING dogs! So yes, they are trained to be violent and brutal. If they had jumped the fence and started prowling the streets looking for prey and they did maul someone, put them down I say, and slap a fine on the owner for not being responsible with his pets. I feel sorry for the creatures in this case because they were safely where they were supposed to be - in their owner's back yard.

Reminds me of the stupid case in England (?) a while back when a burglar hurt himself in the victim's house and sued the victim for negligence. WTF?

There was one in the US. o.o He was going to steal the hub of someone's car, and then car moved and he got his hand hurt. And he sued. AND won.

I feel so bad for the dogs and the little girl =(

It's not like the dogs were loose on the street and started chasing the little girl.... and it's not like the mother couldn't have prevented the girl from going outside =/

Yeah, you hit the nail on the head. The mother *could* (should?) have made sure a four year old girl does not wander around her neighbourhood unsupervised, not because there could be 'bad men' lurking around, but because little four year old kids probably don't even know how to properly cross the street and look both ways.

The pity is the mother's not going to get any blame. I only hope her conscience eats away at her and she can't sleep well at night for the rest of her life.
