Your weapons will be useless against them. Perhaps you could cut the wights to malignant clouds of freezing black dust, but that would not rid you of them. The Others would freeze your weapons to breaking.

No. They are fell creatures who came last with winter. They were mentioned in the Bestiary and Introduction to World's End, Riqis. Are you sure you have never heard of them?
