Nothing says love like 24 hours of fantasy. (I was going to say "sci-fi and fantasy", but then I remembered that Star Wars isn't really science-fiction)
Although, seriously, mid-February is probably a good time. People have recovered from the Holidays. Those of us who have our vacation hours reset at the beginning of the year will have enough time built up to take a day off if necessary.
Mid-feb might be OK for me, as well--I think I've got a brand-new nephew due at the end of Feb, so I might have to head out to keep the other nephew distracted near the end of Feb or beginning of March.
Sunday Feb 12th is Darwin's birthday--that might actually be kinda cool to do something Deeply Stupid on that occasion, in the interest of evolutionary experiments? (Or, if we die from our efforts, we'll be *sure* to get Darwin Awards!)
We are strongly considering throwing a concurrent Northern California Lord of the Wars event, given the problems that we will have in travelling with a small Kitten.
Is a multi-site event beneficial or detrimental to the scientific study?
I'm thinking we can set up identical movie-watching parameters and use a second event as a test to see if the results are independently replicable. Sadly, environmental factors such as number of attendees, room set up and food options will have to remain variable.
Would a simultaneous multi-site showing be necessary, or could dates be flexible, thus allowing some total sicko to attend both events?
We had thought about doing it remotely, having some hyper-linkied web mutual page to update, as well as chat and cams going so that anyone around the world could participate, so long as they synchronized their watches. I like that idea, because eventually it would get all quantum.
But doing it as a roving tour of madness also has a demonic appeal...
