Seriously, I don't think we could handle side events... with a group as large as we had, we started late, and took longer breaks than intended. Granted, we aren't done, but I project we'll finish about 29 hours after we started.
I've got to agree, I think straight through with short breaks between movies is perfect. And having a wireless network handy with half a dozen laptops among the bunch is definitely nice.
1. I will add to the chorus of voices: laptops are a must. The ability to Share & Enjoy™ while in media res is more than convenient, it's essential.
2. While it's nice to have additional folks around to support the test subjects, the best size for a group is probably in the 4-8 range, much like a good RPG party. Too many folks around leads to a lot of crosstalk, which disrupts the flow of things, to longer breaks.
3. On the subject of breaks: the shorter they are, the faster you'll get through. Long breaks tend to kill momentum, not to mention prolonging the experiment. If breaks can be kept in the 5-10 minute range, that's probably a good duration. Enough time for folks to visit the loo, grab a smoke, refill their coffee cups, and regain their seats.
4. Make fo'damn certain you don't have anything to do for the following 24 hours. darkmoon and I have band practice in 14 hours, and I have no idea if we're gonna make it.
