i dont get how this game plays out... shouldnt there be a DM or something?

There is. But I'm hardly going to remember ever single time the GM makes me roll and bad stuff happens. I'm just skimming the the times I didn't face plant entirely on the ground...which if you were at the last game was a lot.

I got plenty of bad rolls and that's why I ended up with a bullet in my ribcage, I biffed it over the bar and why our car blew up.

Though not as bad as say Brain's car. Hell, his character was pretty much dead after that and Jose's character was missing half it's skull.
