"The lamp must be replenish'd, but even then it will not burn so long as I must watch. My slumbers-if I slumber- are not sleep, but a continuance of enduring thought"- Byron
Yes, the night does strange things to thoughts.
I'm pretty much in the same boat as you in regard to never being as happy as I have been here. But when you get older, do you still want to be dependent on the same people, doing the same things, in a sense not moving on?
Besides, just because college ends, does not mean friendship ends. Who knows what will happen.
Don't listen to me though, I've never been loyal to anybody. Thus, I don't have many qualms about leaving people and rarely coming back. So my perception might be skewed.

Well, there'll be no way to get rid of me when I'm living on your couch, a starving, ramen addled writer hunched feverishly over his computer. Then you'll be BEGGING me to leave. Seriously though man, you know I think about this a lot as well, and it IS inevitable, but for the same reason, I've been not fretting over it as much. We will not see all our friends after college, we will grow apart from our friends from high school, it will happen. But, that doesn't change what happened with them, and moreso that doesn't mean that when we DO see them it won't be wonderful. I've been betrayed too many times in the short time I've been around to ever do that to someone, so you know I'll always be in contact, and perhaps I'll try to whip those others into shape too.

If you lose friends, they weren't worth keeping in the first place.

Adam,
I hate to see you like this, but I think I know how you are feeling, and these thoughts are only natural and prove just how much your friendships mean to you. Not that you will necessarily lose anyone, but don't you think that old saying "It is better to have loved and lost, than to never have loved at all?" is true? I think so, and I think that it is important to make the most of the time we have with our friends and the people we love, even though the bonds can not be permanent. Friends are there to help you better understand yourself, and grow as a person, and I think all of the new friendships you have established at college have served that very purpose :)

And don't worry, you can always call or write to me anytime!(you know I will never leave home! Haha).

Feel better soon!

<3 Meridi
