First day back to work after my 2-week vacation and I already want to go home lol. The trip up to Colorado went fairly well, kids were well behaved and the weather was nice, with was mostly the same way as the trip back to H-town. Alli and the kids had their first snowball fight, made snow angles, and caught snow on their tongues, which, for me, ( Read more... )

How does Safe Clear work? How long do you have before you have to be towed?
And who pays the bill if you are forcibly towed?
If I just have a flat tire, and I'm in the process of changing it, I swear I would refuse to pay for a tow if they forced it on me. Yes, oh yes, this will probably backfire quickly.

And some McD's have had 24 hour drive-through for a while.

I think you have like 6 minutes, and from what little I have heard, if you're not done by the time they get there, you're SOL.

If you have a flat, drive slowly to the next exit and find a parking lot.

Oh, and if you are forcibly toed, you pay the bill. If you cannot pay the $75 for 5 miles of towing plus $1 per additional mile, they take your car to the impound.

Welcome back man. I am glad that your trip was went so well.

My question about Safe Clear is how it deals with Triple A members.

From what I have heard, AAA will reimburse you some of the fee, and are now decieing if they will reimburse all of it.

Grrr only some of the fee? Is this even for us snobby "AAA Plus" members who get 100 miles of towing included free? All I'm saying is if I was towed due to the Safe Clear thingie, I'd expect and demand a full reimbursement from AAA. I do remember one time back about 5 years ago I had a rental car run out of gas right in the middle of the freeway (the gas guage was defective and showed full). Since I couldn't wait for AAA, and I was literally stalled in the main lanes, the police ordered the car removed, and it was $110 or so for the tow driver to tow it to a gas station about a mile away. Well, I got reimbursement from AAA for the full amount (of course, I was a AAA plus memeber then too) and the rental car companie applied the amount of the tow to my rental bill!

Just learned this morning that AAA and many insurence companies will now fully reimburse you. Also, the Bill White stated that they are looking into way to do a direct charge to AAA and insurance companies so you do not have to wait to be reimbursed

That would be nice - at least the AAA anyways. Insurance companies can take a while to process the claim on breakdowns (and it's not a part of most people's coverage) so I can understand them not being able to direct-bill them, but AAA is a different story - many wrecker companies are already set up to direct-bill AAA (the one's they send out when you call them) so it shouldn't be too hard.
