I hate birthdays, but I do approve of my nameday, now that I've finally found out what it is :)

Sharleen got me a gift which I'm very greatful for.

Now to face a cold cold morning. Brr!

Is this like Greek namedays? If you have the same name as a SAINT, you have a nameday and hold an all day and night open party for friends, relatives, and neighbours.
My dad's was on New Years Day! (Saint Basil/Vassilios). I had rellos called Chris whose were on Christmas Day. Talk about bad timing! ;P

Not sure how similar the days are between countries, but I have been told that you're meant to get the day off from school/work and whatnot.

I'd hate to have to hold a massive party though. It'd drive me insane!

Though I prefer the Nameday. A day dedicated to your name, not to you. Much more to my liking :)
