For the last several weeks I have felt like I was waiting for something to happen - having some opportunity or decision tossed my way that would lead somewhere

Ah, the ol' Oneonta Vortex still exacts its pull...I have to admit, it'd be nice to have you back in a near-enough distance from us that I won't need to take out a loan to afford the gas to visit you.
I'm seeing Indy tomorrow night and I'm a bit nervous. After reading many reviews I'm trying hard to lower my expectations a bit. I guess I'll have to wait to see if The Dark Knight will be the best movie of the summer now (although I havent' seen Iron Man yet)...
Haven't seen it myself either, but should be slam-dam-fabulous (the ENTIRE WORLD can't be wrong!). Despite opinions, Indy was still worth the price of admission, so I hope you found it at least watchable as well.
Ok, so it's now Memorial Day and I saw The Phantom Men....uh I mean Indiana Jones and the blah blah blah Skull this weekend. I'm sorry Erik, but I'm going to have to be a bit more hard on Lucas and Spielberg (and even Harrison Ford, for chrissakes!) than you were. Watching that movie was like watching my childhood being raped and then tossed into a woodchipper. After waiting nearly 20 years, THAT is the script we end up with??? There was nothing interesting, nothing clever, nothing Indy-like about the plot or the script. They took Indy and Lucas-ized it for the 21st century, making him a cardboard cutout in front of fancy but meaningless CGI. There was no heart in the film. The characters were one-dimensional at best. I swear that The Mummy Returns was more of an Indy-like film than this last Indy film.
Pissed? Why thank you, yes I am. This is the fourth strike in a row for George Lucas. And Spielberg must have sleepwalked through the directing of this thing. Ugh.
Ah - well, in my heart of hearts, I do agree with you for the most part. I think it may grow on us with a few more watchings, but all in all, it could certainly have been improved by leaps and bounds of the non-graphical variety.
