Just watched a couple trailers, named Battle for LA and Cowboys Vs Aliens. I'll post a link here in a sec. The premise is basically the same, aliens/or robots come in and fuck shit up. The message came in clear all of a sudden

I think the main reasons we as a society are into apocalyptic story telling are the fact that the economy sucks and that because we are so dependent on technology there is this innate fear that we are a EMP away from being back in the stone age. It is a weird kind of Sword of Damocles hanging over us. It's the same reason such stories were popular during the Cold War because at any second life as we know it is over because someone might hit the nuclear button.

At least that's how I see it.

Ive always been interested in the apocalypse...whether it starts from zombies, plague or mother nature so I am enjoying the splurge of movies and books that are coming out....I dont want to look into the details of why this entertains me so. ;)

It was a good night. I say we need to drive around aimlessly more often.

There was this great TV series by the late, great Satoshi Kon called 'Paranoia Agent' about a group of people who were hit in the head by a baseball bat carried by a mysterious roller-skating street punk the press dubs 'Little Slugger'. This sort of thing, on the surface, seems like a tragedy; but the episodes feature the lives of these people, who find themselves in more and more desperate circumstances until being smacked on the noggin by a juvenile delinquent, winding up in the hospital, getting sympathy from your friends, peers, etc, and ultimately being freed from your earthly responsibilities or traumas for a time becomes the solution to their problems
