Why I Don't Watch House

Don't get me wrong, the TV show House can be very very good. Clare Kramer and Wolfram & Hart both guest starred in the Season 3 premiere. Hugh Laurie is very very good at being what he's supposed to be, which is a misanthropic, snarky, asshole doctor who disregards the rules and doesn't care about the patients. You know, I really wasn't that excited in the show to begin with, and I think you just hammered the last nail in its coffin for me.

I always have to turn it off halfway through the episode for squeamishness. I love the character, I just can't stand the icky.

It especially didn't help that when we were watching it at Jon's, we were all sorta depressed anyway, and had all had a recent unpleasant connection to a hospital.

Also part of the problem with the show--other than the obvious flaws you already mentioned--is that it is so formulaic.

I really hate knowing that the first act is House being all why-should-I-care. The second act is gross misdiagnosis. The third act is all omg-we-are-so-wrong or we-suck-at-being-detectives-but-we'll-do-it-anyway. And the fourth act is House intuitively leaping to the correct diagnosis.

Formulas get boring after the second time.

It's the reason I rarely watch Law & Order. It's a good show, but it's highly formulaic.
