Some of you may remember my post about the number 10 e-petition system in which I mentioned the national ID card thing
Below is the response from TB. Its quite long but can be summed up in the frase "Fuck you I will do whatever I want." What is the point in having a petition system if you arn't going to take any notice of it and do it anyway.

What I can't understand is why we need an additional fucking card! It's just an additional stealth tax for the purposes of job creation. Adding the same biometric functionality to an existing scheme, such as a passport or driving licence, would keep costs down whilst achieving the desired results. Furthermore, libertarians would be somewhat appeased, as they already accept the necessity for these current forms of information being kept; and very little modification would need to be made to adapt these systems as very little extra data is to be stored.

It's a perfect example of a left-wing government creating a new nationalised service with a view to increasing the number of civil servants and public-sector workers; the current ones are already too much of a burden for the rest of the country.
